I need the help of the readers in the room! There are very few, if any, threads about this. So what do you all use?

I'm a frequent reader who is usually between 3-6 books at any given time.

I also have a lot of [black and white] PDFs and ebooks to go through.

What would you choose?

I don't need another laptop. The kindle is easiest on the eyes from what I hear. It's also only $179.

My wife has an iPad and loves it; you can get the Kindle app adnd you'll have a much more versatile tool than just a Kindle.

Initially she had a PC version but this is 10X better.

Hey Luminus,

I actually got the nook color and put CM7 (android mod) on a micro SD card (it's really easy) and now I have both an android tablet and nook reader. It's truly the best of both worlds. . .you can get a nook color for $249 (new) or a refurb for $199. I got a referb and it works great.

It's small, light and books look great on the reader, plus I can get me some angry birds, netflix, and hulu as well thanks to Android.

Don't have the kindle, but do have an ipad and prefer nook color over ipad for overall use.

Good luck on your decision.

If your going to alot of reading, and mainly need it for that. Then probably a kindle or nook,so your not affected by glare.

What do you guys think of this? It has 2GB DDR3 ram and 32GB SSD

The nook/kindle vs. ipad/nookcolor are different things in my opinion because the latter have lcd screens meaning your eyes still strain, etc. For reading, I would definitely go with e-ink- I have a nook and love it. I have used a kindle as well and that is good too, but the nook supports more formats (for kindle you have to send it to them to get it converted I think). I hear a new nook with color e-ink is going to be announced though, so you might want to wait for that.

Agree...if it is for reading only e ink is way better...so kindle/nook. If you want a web browser / media consumption device, go iPad. Reading books on the lcd screen of a tablet is just as bad for eyes as it is looking at a pc screen all day.

i have an ipad2 and i'm in love with it.....
rumor has it ipad3 comes out at the end of the year if you can wait that long,
i'll probly buy an ipad3 than put my ipad 2 on ebay or something....

I have an ipad2 as well by the way- it's great, but I don't like it for reading- prefer the nook, again because of e-ink.

I have a kindle and I love it for reading, I was going to use an IPAD but the glare bugs after two hours of reading

I got a refurb Nook for $79 and it does the trick in terms of bringing novels while I'm on vacation with the little woman. I must have several hundred novels on it!

Thanks! This is exactly the general response I'm getting and it's making the decision process make so much more sense to me.

I've got CM7 on my droid and do like it a lot. If I had the option of two things, i'd probably go with a kindle and a nook color for exactly the reason you're describing.

I also like bucking the trend and everybody's got a friggin' ipad, lol.

Thank you!

i'm a huge knock-off guy...just bought a 40'' LED TV from Walmart (TCL brand) for $400. But with little electronics (laptops etc) I'm always a bit leery of these things....especially if it only saves a hundred and is something I use all the time! But, I've definitely considered these sorts of options.

I have an IQ Pocketbook 701 and it reads Everything!
It is an e-reader, easily convertible to full tablet.
You can buy it from $139.99 if you look around...

It is European made, but you can also get it in North America

This is cool. I'm going to look into some of the tablets people mentioned that are not as common and see if there are any that would do the trick, I'm just really leery of anything that cheap...I worry about things that end up on Woot, lol!
