[Journal] Tones0000's Music Journey

One of my favorite bands came out with a new album in the past month or so and I noticed that none of their music has been posted on YouTube yet. I happened to get my hands on a leaked torrent a couple day before the release.

I opened up Movie Maker and made some really simple black and white videos with the band name and the name of the songs. I tagged every video with the name of the band, the name of the album, and then the name of every song on the album.

I uploaded all of them at the same time and name them neatly. I made a file with a link to where you purchase the album and uploaded it to a PPD site and put in the descriptions of the videos that "if you want this album free, go here www.blah" After that I just let the videos sit.

Since I am the only provider of these songs of album quality, I will start to gain views automatically! I will keep views and earnings updated daily (or as good as I can).

While this will work, you could have done it "legitimately". Alot of bands on smaller labels don't mind at all if you upload their music to YT. I've seen ripped music uploaded to YT, and then the bands official facebook post links to those videos. However, linking to a "free" download isn't going to win you any favors from the band. If you want to try legit, sign up to the iTunes affiliate program (Is it still through Linkshare?) and link people to buy the album there. The videos could stay up indefinitely, and make you alot more money in the long run.

Oh wow, I had no idea that iTunes had a affiliate program!! I will definitely look at that!

So last night I wanted to just let them go by themselves and see what happened. Views did pretty good, but money wise not so much.I think I'm change it to a zip file so it looks like an album would be inside. Sounds like something to try. And all tips accepted!!

Views are going up pretty fast which is awesome, but I'm not getting many clicks to the download page. Should I make a blog with an album description and a download link on it? Make look professional and nice. What do you guys think?

Views keep rising faster and faster and it is awesome. I'm actually thinking about making a New Album Release blog and just having links to recently released albums on there and just growing the traffic naturally. So I did make a blog for these downloads and I switched to ShareCash from CleanFiles. I love CleanFiles, but the upload limit is just a couple MBs to small and ShareCashs was a little bigger than I needed so it worked out haha.

I found another fairly popular band that released an album a day or two ago so I am going to be uploading in about 2 hours. All of this is really starting to get me excited about the future. And I made some decent money today!!

I still haven't got to upload that other album yet, but these alone are getting pretty good. 6 days in and over 8,000 total views from no advertising at all. IT is cool because quantity over quality is kind of okay in this area because people dont care what the video looks like, as long as the song is on it. No money so far today but I made update it tonight.

Actually, I uploaded them all to one account without a proxy. Just did it as if I made a music YouTube account. I just uploaded them through YT in like 15 minutes.

Well unfortunately, all my videos got taken down for copyright purposes. If I put a copyright note at the bottom saying it's not mine, can I get in trouble? People do it a lot.

Even if you put notice and Content creator dont want you to put their album then you cant
