So I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed a LOT of Top 10s and Fact videos doing really well on YouTube recently. So well that they're being recommended to me even when I have no search history or subscriptions to these types of channels/videos.

I also noticed that on channels that typically don't do these types of videos, when they do do these types of videos they always get more views.

I know that YouTube favors long videos now, but is it possible they also favor this type of content? I'm wondering because a lot of titles for these videos aren't very well optimized for YouTube search. Sure, they can be eye-catching, but what good is that if the video isn't ranking for keywords?

I'm sure we can agree "10 Reasons Why This Game is Amazing" isn't a very well optimized title for YouTube search.

What does everyone think about this?

Prank videos and react videos also do extremely well. -- Also your observation on longer videos doing better is correct, it seems youtube likes to favor videos longer than 10 minutes

Lists in any format generally do pretty well. Kind of how I started way back in the day. Writing list articles for a really big site. I can see where taking list articles and turning them into videos could be something that could be a solid YT strategy.

Thanks for those helpful observations. It gaves me some ideas to consider for future videos.

The only reason this does well is because of the catchy titles and the videos being on things that people search for a lot. There are way too many top 10 channels right now and after watching of them my entire homepage is filled with them. I am 100% sure youtube will do something about it sooner or later. Not to mention that a lot of those top 10 videos are pure garbage.

Also youtube has already done ranking nerf for youtube drama channels. YouTube drama channels get views by putting the names of big youtubers in the title/descr/tags , they literally used to rank in the top 3 results for the people's names last year when they posted a new video, not anymore. Same thing will happen to top 10s believe me.

Makes sense because youtube is trying to be like TV, where programs are at least 20 mins long to keep viewers engaged. Youll see this trend continue in the future, bet on that.

I wasn't aware of this but was expecting it to happen sooner or later! Good thing I stopped making videos on YouTube drama about a month ago haha.

You mihg tnot like it but most people in your area like the video. Or maybe the video is trending now and YouTube doesn't want you to miss this trending video.
