I am going to start a blog on wordpress. Do I necessarily have to buy Wordpress hosting? Or can I buy Shared hosting and not worry about performance? Because the price is literally the same, but I don't understand the differences. Is it just a marketing trick or game-changer?

I have used both and ig there is little to no differences between them. It's more of a marketing tactic so go with any plan. Although wp hosting is optimised for wp related sites as they say .

Install local by flywheel, which is a 1 click WordPress local development setup tool. Design your site. Once it's finish export it into a shared host to age and gain traffic. If the site is a success eventually you might wish to move it to a better server. Shared hosting is more than enough for a site thats growing. (You can also design it directly on the shared host if you want but i like doing them localy)

edit; flywheel has their own shared hosting but id ont use it, i just use their local dev tool. So i dont know if its good or not

No
virtually the same thing, just a different name
in fact, most host providers, I would wager are exactly the same. The WP optimization they promise doesn't even exist.
It just adds additional features that you prob never touch as well

I am using shared hosting for my wordpress blogs i didn't see any issues so far. May be a different name i think.

It's just a marketing illusion,
For some providers, it's supposed to be more optimized for WP,
But, there's nothing really to optimize as long as you got the necessary server and internet resources

Technically i would recommend WordPress hosting because WordPress hosting is specifically designed for WordPress websites and offers several advantages in performance and security over shared hosting.

Normally the wordpress hosting would be easier to manage if you only have a WP site. It will help you create and modify your WP site waaay more easily. The shared one would work better for you if want to do other stuff in addition to you WP site.

what is WP hosting really on the backend? a Softaculous instance with some optimizations?
if so, you are locked into WP. if you ever want to play with other software on your server, you won't be allowed to.

Yes, there is a difference!
Wordpress hosting is better optimized for speed and better performace.
For wordpress website search for hosting which provide LiteSpeed!

Most of the wordpress hostings are shared hostings (having a basic hardware server shared for hosting accounts), but most of the wordpress hostings have additional plugins installed for better performance of WP like litespeed web server and WP cache, so it can make your WP website more fast, but it can depend if they oversell their server then a WP hosting can give you less performance as compared to a powerful hardware server and less client to server ratio shared host. So go for a quality host even if its a shared host, your WP will work fine on it.

Multiple websites share one server in shared hosting thus performance can be affected by other users doing hosting resource abuses. Many shared hosting sellers provide a single click WordPress installation.
WordPress hosting is tailored for WordPress websites, offering optimizations, automatic backups, and enhanced security for a better user experience.

For a lot of "WordPress Hosting" products, they are still shared hosting, but with a lot fewer sites on a server and more resources allocated to your site.
Check with the provider for the # of CPU Cores/% of CPU Load, RAM limit and I/O rate limit to determine which plan is right for your needs.
