Is My Growing or Drowning - Need Guidance!

Hi All,
I started a blog at the end of Feb, started to pour content up to June then I had to go through financial trials and had to shift my home to another place, It became so hectic until July completely, also I have got a newborn baby, She is 5 months old now.

Well, I posted a total of 51 content so far with 51,839 Words. When I see the site, feel like having a small growth every single month from May to August, then suddenly one of my friends showed his actual site that got around 280 posts with 32K views per month in 6 months.

Is that maybe he had an upper hand with 284 content or what's your suggestion for this? I'm actually talking to myself that this is a good sign that site is growing but part of my dude saying, you've to do more, SEO kinds of stuff. I didn't use any SEO Plugins so far, so I thought to use SEO Yoast to implement META to improve the site.

So I came here to hear y'all suggestions or advice to make the site better. Thank you!.
 
Advertise on BHW
add quality articles on an ongoing basis .... search long tail keywords and create new content .... you will see your traffic grow ....

Is your friend doing keyword research, using tools to improve his on-site SEO, and getting backlinks?

He's definitely putting in the work to have 284 articles up in 6 months. That's nearly 5x to 6x times what you have.

Have you been doing any keyword research? (You need to know what you are targeting, don't write random stuff)
What tools are you using to improve your On-Page SEO? (You can get an estimate of how long your articles should be and what they should be about)
Have you built any backlinks?

There's a lot of things he might have done differently? But based on how well he is doing. He is likely doing everything I mentioned.
 
try to post more high quality article regularly with low competition and high search volume keyword. your site is growing little a bit and care should be taken each and everyday.
 
Don't compare your website with your friend website.
Everything will be different like keywords he used, Keyword competition, Backlinks to his websites etc..

I would suggest you to concentrate on your website and try to find low competition keyword with decent traffic, build quality backlinks etc..
 
Your friend put up more content alone making him rank easier than you and also he probably has a lot more quality backlinks as well SEO is often who spends the most wins than who's best at something.

nope, I don't write random stuff unless if there is an opportunity to solve a problem, This is why I'm getting traffics to all my pages, Yes, I'll optimize for SEO from today. I thought by writing solely content could bring traffics and gain ranks on SERPs, but I wasn't half wrong either, Well, It's time to stir.

We are in different niches. I'm certain that I did well earlier but not extraordinarily well. I was focused solely on content, not on SEO or Making pages better, but I was wrong that time due to not implementing SEO Strategies to my content. I regret my decision.

My site has views to all the written posts, which means, somehow or somewhere people are viewing and reading, according to analytics, I'm having a 70-80% bounce rate for users spending on my website around 1 - 3 mins.

I was asking in my question that Am I Growing or Drowning? This is why we fail to answer targets as bloggers to win featured snippets or content. Am I Wrong?
 
You seem to be growing okay so far I can't really fault you there but I would recommend if you can do more SEO work onpage and offpage, for example, today I am sending one of my sites a lot of Slavic backlinks from Russia, Ukraine,Bulgaria, Poland and Serbia.
 
Content requirements depend on the topics that you want to cover. If you've not done on page and off page SEO activities then you should start doing now. Read SEO guides on BHW and learn things and implement on your website. Also add content on daily basis. Only site design and posting content won't help you to get traffic. More things you should start learning yourself.

Sounds good brother by the way I am not lying or joking when it goes to outside of the English speaking area it's like gold mine of high quality backlinks such as in

  1. Germany
  2. France
  3. Russia
  4. Ukraine
  5. Bulgaria
  6. Poland
  7. Japan
  8. Serbia
  9. Denmark
