Is Linkbait good for my site?

Hello,

I have a website for which I started a backlink campaign for a couple of months now.

So I'd like to move on to a better & more effective strategy, which is Linkbait.

There is a site that offers this service, reliable, was recommended by a high authoritative figure.

This website strategy is to add content in my site that can be an easy linkbait to other sites.

So, my only concern is: I don't want to add "unrelated content" to my site with that type of thing ONLY for links, though. I want to keep a consistent site, a consistent tone with my niche.
So knowing this, is following this type of strategy can be harmful to my site SEO?


I'd appreciate any advice on the matter from experienced users.

Yes, it can be harmful because you gonna add some fast visitors and link that is not niche related, what can you expect from that kind of traffic. You will get a temporary spike in linking followed by a quick drop-off, Off-topic or marginally relevant content, visitors not likely to return, etc... That is how I see, of course, I would like to see other opinion here.

Indeed that was one of my worries, is that it might have a quick positive impact, but overall on the long term it will have some bad effect.

Linkbait is good if you know how to do it right.

On the other hand, if you engage in linkbait that fails to deliver, you probably won't get much quality links.

The kinds of links that your post will create are probably from websites that don't really care who they're looking to.

Now, let me ask you.

Is it a good idea to get links from those places?

If they link to your site, how discriminating, do you think, they would be when it comes to linking to crappy sites or, worse yet, spammy sites?

Also, keep in mind that Google is very smart, thanks to artificial intelligence.

And if your domain is linked through a link network that isn't of your doing but is characterized by spammy websites, how long do you think it will take until the hammer comes down hard on your website?

This is why I suggest that you do linkbaiting the right way.

Focus on niche sites that are closely related to your website, and thoroughly deliver on the inherent promise of the linkbait.

Because linkbaiting is a strategy and just like any other strategy, it's neutral.

It can be used in a sloppy, ham-fisted, and destructive way.

Or, it can be used like a surgeon's razor and come up with precise results that can take your rankings to a whole other level.

It all depends on how you play the game.

The way I intend to acquire links is by using a trustworthy well recommended agency who specializes in backlinks, and one of their outreach services, is creating link baits.

So, they outreach to them naturally, and they acquire 6 links for the link bait article on my site.

The niche of the article and those sites is not directly related to my niche, but close enough to it.

You brought a fair point to my attention. Once I acquire those backlinks, how can I verify if those sites are spammy? Any particular signs or metrics to watchout for?
