Is it possible for a subdomain not able to get rankings?

Hello, I made a site using a subdomain provided by 000webhost.com.

I was doing SEO on it for a few days and I found it weird how it wasnt ranking at all or at the very least getting backlinks.

I was pulling out all the stops, I sent wiki links, web 2.0 links, comment links and forum links to the money site and buffer sites and pinged the links, and submitted them to Who.Is sites. I even made RSS feeds out of them and submitted them to Linklicious.

I then checked my sites backlinks on Google using the search: link:mysubdomain.name.com
...and nothing showed up. I did the same thing on MajesticSEO and even Blekko and nothing either.

I looked up other subdomains on the same domain and they didnt have any backlinks either.

Is this a coincidence? Should I wait longer for the site to get ranked? Do subdomains not rank or get backlinks indexed?

Subdomains in general get indexed and rank just fine provided that they are based off an established and preferably trusted domain. You can leverage some trust from the base domain to your new subdomain.

Subdomains on brand new domains don't generally rank for shit, or more specifically they don't rank any better than any other brand new domain (which is generally not very well).

000webhost on the other hand is rapidly turning into one of the most spammed out freehosts on the net, probably in large part because of the publicity it gets on BHW. I myself have thousands of dirty redirect pages there, but they don't get that much traffic. That freehost typically underperforms because it's on the point of getting penalized for spamminess by Google IMHO.

site:000webhost.com shows only 80K pages indexed on Google, which is actually quite low for a popular freehost. Some other freehosts have millions.

google and others might have banned / blacklisted the hosting domain as a bad source therefore de-listing all sites from subomains too, a bit lie they did with co.cc a few months back.

Yes, subdomains can get ranked and can get indexed. You may want to make sure the free web program has robots indexing available on the subdomain and isn't blocking it from the search engines. This is extremely rare, but I've seen it happen until the site builds up enough trust. Kind of like what hubpages does before a do-follow link.

@Autumn The domain is old I think and the domain isnt listed on 000webhost.com itself. They give you a random subdomain (Im assuming) from a list of subdomains they own. I got the subdomain uphero.com and when I do a site: search for it I get 614,000k results.

@kingsib The site I host on (000webhost) or the subdomain I got (uphero.com) arent de-indexed since I did a site: search on Google and a ton of results came up. Im not sure if its blacklisted though.

@InitialEffort How do I check if its blocking robots from indexing my site? On Wordpress I made it so search engines can find me and I searched my site on Google and it came up.

From what I am seeing, should I just wait it out a bit more?

may i suggest investing in a real domain?
losing your domain on 000webhost is just too easy. all they have to do is say they suspect you are violating their terms of service and bam, your site is gone.

That's strange i do rank for a sub domain and just like you i used a free hosting (byethost). and actually i do rank #4 in yahoo and bing and page 3 on google. i think the theory that sub domains don't ranked is not true i have proven that myself. Maybe the great catalyst will be the free hosting site. and what autumn said 000webhost is like the most generic name when it comes to free hosting. thus making 000webhost spammy and not trustworthy on some search engines specially Google.

P.S.
My site is a month and a half old.

@Bartman Will the link juice get passed down to my new domain? Also, my site already went through an inspection and it passed lol

@keytenx Is it weird that after checking a few sites under the same subdomain none have any backlinks either? Do you know of good places to check for backlinks besides Google, MajesticSEO, and Blekko?
