Is Facebook dying?

Their popularity increasing day by day, more and more people are using it. So why it can be even said that it's dying?

As long as the CIA is around Facebook will be in business.

for every 1 person deleting his facebook account, their is 15 new registration. so ?

Facebook is the ultimate social networking site.
It will NEVER be dead.
Old methods die, so you need to innovate new methods to bank from it ;)

I don't know how many of you were around for the myspace bust but I remember when everyone said all the same things. "MySpace will never die." "mySpace going to number 1" "Myspace is losing members but gaining new members everyday" . My opinion is that Facebook is now trying everything it can to prevent this from happening. They are using their money and influence to throw anything they can at the wall to hope it sticks. My opinion is the day they went public was the day they sealed their fate. So I agree with those who said the end of Facebook will start in 2015. But that is just my opinion.

prob not anytime in the near future, but in due time, somebody will take them over. Unless they can keep up being innovative.

If I were a holder of stock I'd dump in the next 14 months, mind you the big earn was completed when the shares floated.

Nah, the only thing dying on Facebook was Te'os fake girlfriend. The good news is that Brett Musburger finds her hot.

I do not think so. with the new Search graph the open the whole new market. powerful shit. for businesses this could possibly be a massive opportunity!! this is exactly the kind of thing Google has been trying to do with Google+.

interestingly, the stock market is not excited about it, old world idiots. just imagine who would you rather get an endorsement from - strangers from google+ or someone you know on fb and can directly ask and talk to about searched restaurant, doctor, vacation spot, movie, etc.

fb can now easily compete with linked in, dating sites, local review sites, etc.

I agree. I mean you have to think of it this way. Facebook is at it's stale-mate. Really the only thing that's keeping it alive is active users. Probably all those new registered accts are ppl like us blackhatting anyway. Stocks went down, Market share went down. Really like what was said above ^^ The only thing that will keep FB alive and not die AS fast, would be new innovations for the site.

Facebook is what happens when you build a system with great potential, and no real focus.

"we'll have people connect with each other!"

Great idea! Because MSN messenger, ICQ, and AIM are sure alive and kicking. And we know everyone uses Skype, not just business people and families video-chatting.

Facebook's stock debacle is a perfect example that "there really is no there there". It's a mess.

Most new users are fake, a TON of existing users are fake, the general population of FB is on the decline, their ad system is still a joke, their API is mystical to all but the deans at MIT.

They're talking about having their own email system, talking about having their own search engine, talking about making their site also more of a dating site....Facebook, you have ADHD. You are the epitome of the BHW user that reads a bunch of methods and never focuses on one.

The problems that affect people on BHW negatively apparently also affect entire corporations. There's a quote kinda about this that goes something like- the things that cause kings to fight are the same things that make neighbors get upset with one another.-

FB will turn into a marketplace, and people will go elsewhere to socialize. So, it's not dying, it's changing.

Are they right on the decline now? No, I wouldn't say so. Or at least not in any terribly damaging way.
Eventually though, I expect them to fall like most other social media websites - or most websites in general.
The thing with social networking websites is that they are very trendy. And trends come in and out.
