I have always been connected to YouTube in some way or another. But in recent months, I have gotten more and more fluent with 'hacking' the youtube algorithm and I would like to post my findings.

My channels
Make sure to look at the time frames in which I made these channel results because they vary a lot

Channel #1

This is my main channel. I focused more on good content, good thumbnails, and a lot of keywords and tags. I was offered sponsorship deals and got a lot of connections from it.

Channel #2

Screenshot 2021-10-11 214237.png

With this channel, I posted more content, and focused mostly on dominating tags. The titles and videos were short and I didn't use any thumbnails.

Channel #3
1634009837485.png

With this channel, I posted a lot of content all at once (8 videos a day for about 3 weeks ~100 videos) and let it sit, then I posted a video again to see if I had any dominance in the Tags (i didn't have much)

So in this post I will be showing what actually matters when making a youtube video.
How much and what kind of content should you post?
So how much content you should post really depends on your niche. With that being said more content = more views = more money. I've tried out different posting schedule and varied the amount of content I posted. And I found out that it doesn't really matter how much content you post. Your videos along with proper tags and keywords will naturally create an audience that will mold to YOUR schedule. However, you should target the timezone that you want your viewers to be in.

However, when posting content, quality is probably more important. something to take into consideration and I believe there is 4 tiers of content quality that you can use to your needs.

- 4th tier: The quality in this tier is probably something you wouldn't watch on the daily. This tier includes your software tutorials, and more get to the point videos. (e.g. How to mine bitcoin on your phone
)
If your trying to get a legit page and brand with actual subscribers and good content, this is not the content method you want to go for. This method is best used for stuff like CPA advertising, or extra sources to look at on a website.

- 3rd tier: This tier houses the content that is built for people that don't have anything else to watch. This is your compilations, text to speech videos, etc (e.g.
)
This type of content should be used specifically to build an audience, farm subs, and in create a general area where you have some sort of viewer attention. In my personal experience, I found this tier to be the easiest to get.

- 2nd tier: This tier is where I would categorize the content creators, influencers and content that doesn't require a production team. This content is typically what you would want to go for when you want to become 'famous'. (eg
)
This type of content takes a certain amount of skill and luck to get into. You need to create content that people want to watch. They subscribe to your channel because they enjoy your content.

- 1st tier: In this tier, you have the sophisticated pages. These pages typically need a production team to make this channel function (e.g.
)
This content tier is typically created by large companies or people with connections or money.

Bottom line. The content you post should be what you want to post but I'm not gonna sugar coat it. If your content is dog shit and not something people want to watch then you're not gonna get good watch time. Whereas, good content that people want to watch = more viewers and subscribers

How to get more viewers and more subscribers?
I like to think Youtube is an easy website. You have to have keywords, a good title and tags, and a good thumbnail to bring in the people.

With youtube, the algorithm is mostly based on your keywords and the peoples reaction to your video. So let me break it down.

Keywords and Tags
Keywords and tags are important for the algorithm to know where to categorize you. In your tags and description, you should have stuff that is found in your niche.

E.g. if your niche is beauty, in the description and tags you would mention makeup, fashion, thrifting, specific styles. Whereas, if your niche was fitness your tags and description would include arm workouts, leg workouts, weight loss, etc

Keywords and tags are also important for cementing your place in the niche. It's important for you to dominate smaller tags and keywords so that you have more reputation with larger ones. With my channels, I often used my channel name as a tag. This helps with the algorithm recommending your videos to people.

Good title and a good thumbnail
A good title shouldn't be too long, and shouldn't be too short. It should give a hint to people on what the video is about, but shouldn't give away the results. The title directly affects the algorithm too, but more importantly, it is seen and read by the potential viewer.
1634007839579.png

Here's an example of a good title by Mark Rober. The title tells us what we are going to watch, but it doesn't tell us the results or how it's done. It's shorts and gets to the point, without dragging on.

With thumbnails, it gets a bit more psychological. The thumbnail is the first impression we will get of the video, so it's important that it looks good and draws attention to it.

When making a thumbnail, keep in mind how small it will be (the average viewer uses a phone or computer). So loading up the thumbnail with text, is inefficient. If you're putting words in your thumbnail, make sure its readable, and contributes to the overall thumbnail.

Colours are also important when making a thumbnail. You want a thumbnail, that physically gets the attention of people. So use colour to your advantage. Increase saturation, have more contrast, etc etc

When you post a video, the individual video doesn't come up and the viewer swipes it like tinder yes or no. You don't get individual attention. You're competing against other thumbnails on a large page, and if your thumbnail can't draw the attention of the potential viewer then your out of luck.

Here's another good example by Mark Rober showcasing how to make a thumbnail.
1634008235438.png

He uses, a red arrow (red is shown to be more attention grabbing than other colours). The text on the screen is short and readable. And the thumbnail gives us a good first impression of the video we're about to watch.
Overall this is an amazing thumbnail.

Bookmarked for a detailed read.
THX for sharing op.

love everything about it explanation, tier stages from farming to actual YT accounts, and one of the good guides which doesn't mention SMM panels lol.
I kid you not there are good SMM panels out there which haven't been spammed to death but you are right

This is great, glad you took your time to explain things.
Does YouTube still accept(monetizes) faceless channels?

I kid you not there are good SMM panels out there which haven't been spammed to death but you are right
yeah man, that's the thing even some good people I knew on BHW back in 2014-2015 who were selling quality views of their own are either N/A (Vanished) or are re-selling from another panel. This is really frustrating similar services, weird names like it make a difference and distributed over API to 100's of panels. Things have changed a lot....

Am I wrong or is this just saying do everything good and you will succeed in YouTube maybe.

You don't seem to have done enough A/B testing to understand if what you are saying is actually somehow "the key" to success.

Your second channel appears to have been getting a pretty significant amount of views before you posted those recent videos.

Have you uploaded videos without any tags and compared the views to videos with tags?

Thank you uploader for your helpful post.

On my Youtube channel, I post trailers for my games and apps. So because it takes a while to make a game or app, I post rarely. I have had 20 videos on my channel in the last 5 years or so.
Tags and keywords, Thumbnail and title - I put a lot of effort and I think it's pretty good.
Quality - I like to think my games are good lol
# of videos - yeah, can't help here.

I only have 5 subs on my account lol.

What should I do to increase my subs and views OP?

Hi!

the 3 channels i put at the top were only the 3 channels that got decent exposure from the experiments i did. I can attach more channels that I put a decent amount of work in, as well as channels in different niches.

1634015940643.png

This channel had 0 tags, 0 keywords. strictly 3rd tier content with good thumbnails and titles. (yes you can argue that i didnt post consistently, but there were +10 videos which normally would be enough content for the algorithm to pick up (compare it to the top 3)

1634016138256.png

this channel had good keywords and tags, but thumbnails and titles were kinda shit (my earlier work)

1634016229407.png

This channel is still a work in progress, but its testing out, shit content, with minimal keywords and tags, and decent thumbnails and titles. (the main focus of this is seeing how watch time effects the viewership)

Regarding the second channel, I'm pretty sure that was a bug, because the views that was found during that day belongs to a video posted after that day.

Hope this makes things more clear :)

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

unfortunately from what you're telling me it seems like your videos isn't classing well with other content (your video doesnt match your keywords/tags)

but to be fair, i would need to know exactly what your posting, and the content.

About tags specifically:

https://www.socialvideoplaza.com/en/articles/youtube-tags
A proper test is not using different content in different niches etc. A proper test is uploading the same exact video on your normal channel, but just not entering any tags for 2 videos. Then you compare the results of those videos with all of your other videos. Then you would do the same on your same channel with title length for example.

Clearly explained. Got some idea regarding YouTube video. Thanks for your good share.

i specifically made sure to say that keywords and tags are important, tags by themselves are more or less useless, however using keywords in your description as well does work. Tags paired with keywords are still useful for ranking.

YSK that channels that reupload the same content WILL be flagged by youtube's algorithm either marked as spam and taken down, or the algorithm wont let it slide. So there is no formal way to conduct testing beside just trying to create content similar to each other

Yes all my channels are faceless, however if you want to monetize the channels, you will need a legit voice over
Thanks for sharing . Have you seen the the other YT thread by another BHWer regarding stock image/video + TTS and successfully monetized and not banned yet. What is your opinion of that kind of videos?

No, I haven't come across that post.

I started my main channel with tts, but it kept getting demonetized.

Heres the information where i learned that tts is demonetized https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/92258279/does-youtube-allow-text-to-speech-for-monetization-in-2021?hl=en

my opinion on those kinds of videos are the people behind them are hustling, ill never be mad at someone using a new method to hustle
