Hey y'all. I know this question has been asked a lot here, but I am really struggling to find a niche.
The thing is, I can't find something that I am both passionate about so that I can constantly write high quality articles.
I tried following some of the guides here and I always end up with a niche that either I hate or that is too obscure to capitalise on.
I hope some of you can help me. Thanks in advance and I am terribly sorry for this stupid looking thread lol
Fuck all of that.
I was in that exact same spot when I started out. What niche should I pick? sure pick one you have the aptitude for but more importantly, pick one where you can find the best keywords. If you can, go for something that is not as easy to write about. If content creation in a niche is simple, everyone and their mom will have a go at it. I go in niches that lack competition because people lack the brain power to create good content.
Learn to do keyword research. Keep doing it until you are really good at it. This is going to take some time, but all starter keywords have a few things in common:
1. They are usually 4 words or more (long tail keywords)
2. The front page of google has forums/quora/reddit/pinterest, basically user generated content. This can get tricky since pinterest is sometimes there for a reason, as is facebook
3. The front page of google has poor content with weak competitors or content ranking is irrelevant and only showing because no one else has written about it
You will need 3 - 4 months to get this right. Do not cut corners on keyword research. Your keywords will dictate your success in IM, regardless of what stage you are in.
Once you cover a bunch of topics (keywords) on your website, you will notice all of your pages rising in rankings. A snowball effect, often referred to as topical relevancy. When one blog has a bunch of different articles on the same topic Google starts favoring that blog over others that lack the level of relevancy your site has.
To keep things steady you are going to understand 'search intent' (put yourself in the shoes of the person typing in the query and anticipate what it is that they want to see on your page ALWAYS keep this thought in mind and build outlines for your articles, your content will write itself)
Finally, to maintain stable rankings you are going to need some links. This is where you'll have to spend money. Don't look for cheap alternatives, there is no way around this.
Good luck!
