Hi, I'm new to blogging.
I want to know which is more easy to rank

Like a general niche blog website where we can put every type of niche.

or a micro niche website.
Like, Football, Hockey

I want to start making some guest post websites

Micro niches are easy to rank as compared to multi-niche blogs. If it's your first time with such a thing, go with micro, it's the best option for you.

Start from micro niche sites. Rankinga multi-niche site is complicated, and requires a lot of time and money.

Micro niche sites used to be great, way back in the day, now they are mostly garbage because you can't scale them and most micro niches have micro traffic.

And it is just as easy to rank a bigger site where you have more possibilities in branching out if a certain microsite doesn't pan about!

Create a website around a single product or service. This will give you an opportunity to target all relevant keywords. You'll be considered an expert on that subject. This is still an opportunity for newbies to rank in SERPs.

There isn't a niche easy to rank, but easy to rank keywords. You can start a news site and rank for keywords from multiple niches.

I am also looking for building my first authority site and i dont know where to start honestly
You can start by getting an expired domain with generalist name. Than do keyword research for low-comp keywords and start trying/generating content on those keywords.

If you are new to blogging, I'd advise you to find a micro niche that you care about. You'll have to write, read, and proof hundreds of thousands of words, know your competitors, and generate content ideas + ways to promote them. Not an easy task if you plan to cover a topic that can bore you to death.

Look at a few different keywords, pull up google keyword planner, or ahrefs, and get some details about them. Pull up the google top 100 with mozbar for those keywords too, and make sure you are all over them. Then based on that, and anything more you can gleam, make a decision about what to do next, maybe pick a few different keyword domains, so you can run different niches in parallel. If you want a load of different guest posting sites, then you'll need regular content & links to entice traffic, as well as a regular purchase and domain portfolio expansion plan.

Micro niche is best for blogging.
  • It’s easy to build a targeted audience.
  • You can get targeted traffic from search engines.
  • You can sell high ticket offers to a close group of people.
  • You will have better conversion rates because you are targeting a specific audience.
  • You can grow your blog faster.
  • Less competition and more chances of making money.

You should pick a niche you’re actually interested in then use Ahrefs or something similar to find low competition long tail search terms that your competitors are ranking for. Then build pages around those search terms preferably on an expired domain with strong backlinks

I would definitely say that microniches are a better choice for ranking, especially microniches of niches that already aren't that competitive, and basically, if you avoid gambling, crypto, finance, and dating you would pretty much be good to go in the sense of ranking higher. General blogs can be very hard to rank as you need to rank them for a lot of different keywords.
