Guerilla WiFi Advertising (Never seen before method)

Hello everyone,

Is there any interest in me doing a guide about guerilla Wi-Fi advertising?

I have never seen this method done anywhere, nor seen a guide anywhere.

I basically built myself a device out of a microcontroller and a battery bank which advertises fake Wi-Fi networks. (Open area range 100m~500m)
I can choose the name of those networks myself.
The Li-Ion cells in it can make this thing run up to a few days independently. If you have some solid experience in hard- & softwaredesign as well as some microcontroller programming skills you could do it from scratch. For others I would write a guide, if there is any interest around.

(Device can be programmed to do some grey-blackhat stuff aswell, maybe I will put that in the guide as well.)

The idea is that you place one or multiple of these devices in areas you know are going to be crowded.
Good examples would be a train station or an airport. Basically everwhere you know where there are going to be a lot of people around with their phones out.

This way you could potentially reach thousands of people each day, for free.

Let me know if you would be interested, as writing a guide for noone would be way to much work since it involves quite a lot of explaining.

Rasberry Pi with a network extension thingy can do that.
IMO using something like a femtocell & forcing everyone to subcribe to a push notification or view your ads is more profitable but higly illegal I guess.

This method is 100% legal and pretty whitehat (Also if you implement some extra features it gets pretty grey & blackhat). Aswell as never seen before, as i mentioned. Also a RPi uses way too much power for this and is pretty overengineered for this task. You dont need an operating system for this.

Would be very intrested in a guide plus got a shit ton of old 18650 cells that could be used for the power bank, knew I saved them for a reason lol

if you didn't give them permission to go onto your network, forcing them to view your ads would be kind of legal. They'd be the ones breaking the law in the first place by going n your internet without your permission

I doubt it'll ever get back to pre-2010 levels of profitability, but it's still one of the better methods for the amount of effort involved.

i use to do graffiti and the idea of taking space without asking is great !
how many ads do we get pushed in our face that we dont need everyday.

im a londoner and on the tube network here they have 15'' x 7'' adverts above the seats i always think how monitored is that stuff ?

iv always wanted to print out my own ads and insert them in place

huge exposure as millions travel on the tube every day

This has been happening for a couple years now.
There's also specialized devices to do this.

Haven't implemented it myself yet though.
