Google update again?!

Sorry man but I've studied many e-commerce websites, who get around 10k organic visitors monthly + at least 10-20k followers on their Instagram, and a lot of them still haven't got the basics right :
  • URL = H1 = TITLE >> This is probably the most common mistake I see.
  • URLs fucked up by all the /category/ or /article/ and even /blog/post/ that the great majority of them still have in them.
  • No META-DESCRIPTION on the majority of their pages.
  • Blog tags pages indexed.
  • Too many URLs indexed in general. (a lot of them even got the pages with parameters like ?color=, ?page= still indexed...)
  • Site speed is shit, especially on mobile (and I'm not talking about only the homepage) >> Super common aswell
  • ETC.
  • ETC.

But after that I'm from France so maybe the guys out there are behind what you can see in USA, this I can't say.

Its the same old debate, what is worse, ecommerce websites and news wesites use same content and ranking without any problem

There are 2 thoughts although they are pretty much the same

First : google treat different types differently, so what is allowed in e- commerce isnt allowed for others . Same goes for news letter websites

Second : which I believe, rank factors are not set in a stone rules. Like there is no template for prefect score, and every page is compared to it

Instead, every keyword is different as the metrics are taken from top pages. So, you are compared to already ranking pages + other metrics depending on use experience decide who takes the first place.

So, if everyone is using same content for some keyword، then no one is better than other, and the algorithm start to look for other factors.

I am typing on mobile, but hope the idea is clear

Explain please the
  • URL = H1 = TITLE >> This is probably the most common mistake I see.
The keyword targetted in the URL is the same as the one targeted in the H1 and also the same as the one in the TITLE. Example : URL = /small-toys, H1 = Small Toys, TITLE = Small toys - Company Name.

This is not "bad" per se but by doing that you restrain yourself from targetting similar keywords that people also type when looking for small toys.

I get what you say. From what I've seen, in general the ones ranking above the websites I studied tend to have better UX/better page load speed/better onsite optimization in general.

I don't really know what to add here, but there are some websites whose onsite SEO is really all over the place and can't reach the top3, beginning with optimizing this would be a great first step in order to get better positions in my opinion.

Anyone seeing any bounce back since the 12th March update? I am seeing a few big increases for KW's which went from 3-193 on the last update. I have actually changed hosts and the page speed has increased but other than that, I have made no changes.

What are you guys seeing?

1. Huge ranking decrease on 12th March, I.e. Kw's went from 3 to 193
2. 3 days ago
3. 3 months ago for newest pages, 12 months ago for oldest

However, I am seeing a bounce back on some KW's since I changed to faster hosting 3 days ago. I am asking if anyone who experienced a rankings decrease is seeing a partial bounce back? And if so, did they do anything, I.e. Improve site speed, disavow etc

what is your speed test on https://webpagetest.org and https://gtmetrix.com? In particular I am interested in your "first byte" score on webpagetest.org

disavowing does more hurt than help. you should only disavow when you get a msg in google search console. Otherwise, don't use it. test after test has resulted in the same outcome.

For me I didn't do anything. Didn't update any content. Didn't change site structure.
I just bought links and few of them shoot to #2-3 for the keywords I ordered.
I ordered around 2-3 months ago though.
So I think it's about links. (again for me only. I did not do anything else)

I don't personally disavow links. I was asking if anyone had seen a bounce back and if so, had they done anything, whilst at the same time highlighting what I had seen and the change I made.

Not sure you had anything to add from your experience since the March 12th update.

Are you referring to the original medic update, or the March 12th update?

for all my keywords that i am ranked at the top, i have a bit better percentage of exact match query in backlinks than my competitors. also, rock solid on-page seo when it comes to on-site optimization.

have you looked at your comptitors backlink ratio for your primary keyword using semrush or majestic?

An announcement was made on their Twitter account.
Basically they're saying that if you got hit, you're fucked. Still raging that shitty websites are now outranking mine. And I don't mean so so websites; I mean utter shit with a whack ton of spam links for some of my biggest keywords.

@Ozzyzig - interested to know how is your ranking now.

@Zbigniew

Not good. At the beginning of March I could see a huge increase in terms of profit from these two sites. Now they are making peanuts here and there again.

Average position before medic update: 20 (top 10 for my heaviest keywords)
Average position after medic: 110
Average position in December: 70
Average position during March update: 40
Average position after March update: 50-60

Some days one keyword is at position 110, next day 90, the day after it's 170. Totally unnecessary lol

In my eyes both sites are still "marked" by Google. They are not fully banned, but they are somehow hit by the medic update.

How are things looking out for you?

Did anyone here see their pages get deindexed over the weekend.... I was freaking out but then found out that Google had a bug apparently? But my rankings are still messed up!!!

Hi
I just heard that the new update has become more strict about buying organic visits. wondering if you guys know anything?
I was about to get "paid visits", but I don't wanna risk.

How you can buy organic traffic? By adwords?

not only my main keyword is ranked at #1, but all other keywords for other pages have seen a major boost. I really focused on on-page seo for over the last 6-9 months. summary of what I did:

The rankings are now in position 11 and 12 for the majority of the keywords, some are further down.
It's still the case though that sites with thin content, and spammed to buggery anchor ratios are making their way to the top.
The biggest site in the niche has also dropped down. This was surprising since their content is excellent (as much as it pains me to say it).
