What I noticed:
- Health sites obviously got hit, but so did other niches
- Local and Global sites both got hit
- Sites who have About Us pages and those that didn't both got hit
- Sites that had natural white hat link progression, white hat outreach, and blackhat pbns all got hit as well
- Long form content pages got hit as well as shorter article pages
- Sites that have privacy policy pages and those that didn't both got hit
- Sites with http and https both got hit
This should be called the
armageddon update
Edit: Here's another article that attempts to analyze between sites via UIX etc. why sites may have lost rankings
https://www.rankranger.com/blog/google-site-profile. It was at least entertaining to see how bad some big dogs lost their rankings...
Didn't read it all. But that guy seems off the mark.
#4: spine-health.com: If Google is penalizing for that style of ads then we're all doomed. Every site might as well be a .org.
He also mentions Health.com as content that doesn't align with the supposed objective of the site. Well, was businessinsider hit? Because they constantly post stuff that isn't business-related just to milk as much money as possible.
If Authorship is actually a big deal as well. Google is essentially turning the internet into a barrier where:
- You either need to be hyper-credible: aka drop 500k on a medical degree just to blog in the health niche; if I could do this I wouldn't need to blog would I.
- A popularity contest: People with articles, social media presence, and their face all over the internet; everyone knows the internet is for us recluses and Google is made by a bunch of basement nerds too... so that would really suck.
Should call it fuck the little guy update.
I'm hoping it's just an anchor text and aggressive ad update instead.
Might be related to the Aug. 1 update but
"White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told reporters at the White House on Tuesday that the administration is "taking a look" at Google search results."We're just gonna do some investigations, some analysis, that's what we do," he said."

Even Trump is not happy with Google's search results! LOL. He could be the game changer. hahaha!
Honestly, that is not even open for interpretation. And anything you read from CNN relating Trump is, mostly, a lie.
Silicon Valley and the mainstream media lean heavily left, and there is no debate about that.
I was thinking the other day how this should also be called the feminist update, since I'm seeing a lot more rankings lately for female bloggers with their Genesis-themed clones of websites they all have. But obviously there are just a lot more female bloggers now.
However, I would be surprised if the search results weren't censoring conservative views when it comes to Trump. Since Youtube and every other mainstream media publication site already does it. But Trump doesn't give a crap about YMYL or internet marketers, so I don't see how that will help us.
