Google update again?!

Another trend I see.

Sites with two or more pages in top ten (what we call content canibalization) were hit and a page removed from serps.

Lol funny to see you're so surprised theres another google update
I hope you don't freak out every morning when the sun rises as well...

Jokes aside, I had a 50% increase since the update so thats perfect

Blackhatters dropped down in rankings = we (people with long-term thinking) get better rankings.
You're saying a simple question cannot be answered accurately in 300 words (considered thin content)? A website that offers such answer can organically obtain 1000 backlinks for providing good information. Not all websites with little content per page and lots of links are blackhat.
Google certainly is improving and I'm sure that with AI the SERPs will be even better, but it is a fact that sometimes they do some mistakes too. To me it seems that this update is doing harm. I am outranked by joke sites. Did manual checks of some keywords and its bad. While I am being topped by joke sites, I still rank above webmb.com and similar (high authority) sites. It doesn't seem right to me.
90% of all sites I have that jumped or stayed the same all fit that lmao. Spun content, one page sites, 300 words, many BH link.

Black hat is alive and well, as a lot of members know. The ones who are staying ahead don't publicly share any of their methods.

@mtj85

You can answer in 300 words, but we both know you wont get shit unless you add these BH backlinks you're using because someone will answer with 1000 words and out-rank your ass because he provided more value.

If someone types "how to make money"

You can answer by saying :" build a site, put ads on it, and bank" which is your 300 answer words

Or you can write a 5,000 words post like Spencer haws from niche hacks did, lets see who outranks who ... and who do you think provided a better answer in googles eyes?

I'm not playing blind man here.
I merely pointed out that it is not as easy to spot a black hat site if you only look at "google got too smart to have sites with barely any content and 1,000 backlinks ranked first.. these days will be over very soon". I'm saying that its possible to have little content and many backlinks naturally. Not saying that this is true for "how to make money" niche (because these are highly profitable keywords and google probably pays special attention to those) I was just giving an example. Not all sites are black hat and google can't just mark all sites with little content and many backlinks as spam and degrade them. What I'm trying to say is that google can't just generalize one ranking factor like this because it would also hurt clean site. It needs to gather many other signals too. Links are IMO still main ranking factor and they will be, until the day the maching learning together with highly developed semantics take over. Then the links will fade.
So I still believe this update had to do with backlinks, at least in some relation. Seems that my links still hold value (as I am outranking medical giants in SERPs), but some random sites (with little background) are popping in front of me.

Completely agree with most of your points. You can rank a page without any content, it depends on what your competitors do, each niche is different because Google compares sites ranking for the same keyword against each other. Not some Global spam factor like some users try to push.

I see sites with as little as 40 words on each page outranking my 300 words, but we both outrank the 5k meat articles with pure links. content is still a weak metric for ranking, and will be for some years. Googles IP for backlinks is too precious to not use.

Display all of your E-A-T. Your About page should be full of reasons why you are known as the most authoritative business in your vertical. Brag about awards won, press recognition, years of experience and more. Note: We don’t know whether Google actually gets this information from your About page or not. But, our thought is that whatever we can do to help Google understand our E-A-T is good.

Display your author E-A-T. Every article on your site should have an author listed. That listing should link to an author bio that brags about their E-A-T.

Improve the reputation of your business and your authors. You can often do this by getting favorable press coverage. But, know that Google is pretty good at knowing which parts of sites are written by journalists who can be paid off vs staff journalists who are truly uncovering the news. Other ways to improve your reputation include fostering user reviews across the web, increasing the number of testimonials displayed on your site, getting your authors published in authoritative places outside of your site amongst other things. If you are looking for help in establishing E-A-T, my team and I can do an E-A-T review for you and give you some suggestions. You can contact me for details.

Take a good hard look at the products that you are offering. If you sell a product that could be considered sketchy, spammy or harmful to people, then this could be the cause of your ranking drops. I recognize that in some of these niches, competition is fierce to the point of competitors slandering each other with bad reviews. Hopefully Google is able to look past that. If you have real users leaving bad reviews about your products or complaining about your business, then this issue must be addressed.

If applicable, build up product E-A-T. If you sell a diet product, a medical device, or some other health related product, then there needs to be extensive information on the web about this product. You can improve product E-A-T by fostering reviews, generating discussions and having a product that is so good that people truly want to talk about it.

Christ, is EAT the new "content is king" crap?

If something doesn't work 100% of the time, it isn't a fix. "eat" can only be seen to have positive results in selected cases.

Also, decided to highlight all the misleading/blatant lies.

Also the above contradicts a the entire post. Proves there is a massive hole in the entire theory.**my bad, though this was your post. Not the OC you posted.

My bad, that read like you was trying to find clients by making that post... my second point does hold some truth though. The whole negative review way ruins the theory. Links are king.

Content is in same category as social signals, you need it, but too much means jack shit.

Did you mean this update is for links only?
And now how we can get the rank back after this F**** update?

Let the dust settle, research the backlink profile for the winners, run some tests.

Too soon to give you any concrete advice yet.

The update has been completed and now everything is stable now

Yeah but they'll still be aftermath movement. My sites go from 2>9>2 within 10 minutes.

And "stable" is a very relative term.

Exactly the same for me. Long term stable positions held for months are doing the same thing. Maybe this is the new SERP for anyone not classed as the new authority in P1 and 2. I sure hope not though.

Yeah, from what I've been reading this update is based on their EAT metric. And yet I see pure affiliate sites with low quality content and no indication of any expertise, authority and trust mentioned anywhere on their sites ranking on page 1 for my KW.

Must-read, just posted by Glenn Gabe. (still a newb and can't post links.) It's on GSQI blog.

I'm seeing shitty eBay and Amazon product results for health keywords. That's quality???

All my projects are falling down after this update (from page 2 to page 4/5/6/7/8).
Stupid spammy sites with 2 pages are ranking now in 2nd page.
The most crazy thing is that my tumblr porfile (with 4 articles) ranks better than my money site.
