Google update again?!

It means that niche websites focusing on exact long-tail keywords having problem now?

done a complete windows reset so not familliar with newer updates tbh

was it another update on 30 November?
Lost my rankings... Does anybody have any idea what it was all about this time?

I started to lose organic traffic since November 29. Every another day - worse results than previous day. Now I have 20% my old organic traffic.

Getting huge re-gains here. it's like a "recovery update" for me lol

Is you traffic back down again? It seems my site is penalised again. Google gives my site great rankings during exactly 14 days and then it's gone. This process is repeated several times. Very strange.

i think it was season problem, i have this issue too

I've got a relatively new (sub 4 month old) amazon affiliate site in the health/fitness niche. Anyone else seeing weird jumps like this? Last week I moved to HTTPS, so not sure if that is causing some of this behavior. Luckily the site is still young so I didn't have a big earnings loss or anything.

My top 3 rankings have yet again dropped. It's like a never ending merry go round.

7th of December - another update that pushed the rankings down for 5-10 positions. Just when I thought that everything was starting to stabilize. Now I am starting to believe that I am really lucky to have such a site that, after 7 years of no "penalty", now collects and is negatively affected by each subsequent update from google. Like its catching up for the "lost years". So each time I see a spike in SERP activity my rankings loose positions. There's a few keywords that I had on rank1 for YEARS and now these are deranked each week when update happens and are now heading towards page 4!! Not to mention that I completely lost hundreds of keywords from top100. Wow.

A patterns is starting to show here. Unluckily I don't know what it is. But it seems that rank drop is triggered by something on this website that isn't aligned with new google paradigm.
I just can't believe this. Seems that they changed the core algo significantly to have this broad effect (losing 1,2,3 positions is fine and I considered this normal flux, but losing hundreds of keywords and positions just isn't a small thing).
I believe they SHOULD update their google webmaster guidelines or give us some hints with what now is so important that can cause gigantic drops. But all they say is "you don't have to change anything, it is what it is now, create good content". What the hell? Apparently something big changed.

It might be that they started to devalue some links, because I am seeing across my other sites that have practically no links that these properties have gained traffic lately. Almost all of them. And this started to show after August. So it could be that they could not "devalue" those links for those properties, because the links are non-existing, and this is the reason why those sites moved up. It might just be this. But then again - this opens up the door for NEGATIVE SEO, which I don't believe they allow.

All this EAT crap is just murky water, google doesn't have the capability to evaluate persons along with websites. They tweaked one (or more) parameters weights. AI to contribute to ranking is bullcrap, or if it is real, and they call it AI, it just a bunch of scripts that evaluate things based on probability and history results. Not much intelligence here. So again just a static ranking factors.

I hope google gets regulated soon.

I have also observed the same but can't find exactly what is the update. Searched a lot on Google and found some broad core algorithm is there.

Look at my results. The image shows only 1 year span of data, but my webseite is 5+ years old and I have never experienced such drastic changes like I do now. Yep, many keywords were I was #1 are lost. But the weird part is, that it still fluctuates throughout the day. Sometimes I am in #1 with my main money page and later, the same day, I am #10 with some weird old blog post of mine. And no, there is no content cannibalization, because those articles are vastly different. And I see this pattern in many keywords.

I can also confirm that I see shitty websites with 10 RD links in TOP5 outranking multi-billion corporate websites in my niche. What the hell is going on. I never had any real competitors and now one shitty websites ranks for most of the keywords in my niche with 10 backlinks and I am loosing thousands every month... and he was just catapulted into TOP 5 in a very short time.

Make him an offer...

Buy his website.

But your results are bouncing down and recovering shortly after. My results, when position is lost, do not recover, but lose more ranking with each subsequent update. Slowly creeping down each "update". But on the other hand - I haven't touched the site much since August, so it can also be due to the link velocity being very low. But then again - each time there is a drop there is a spike to my ranking, so the site is in fact affected by switch in ranking algo, not primarily because of low link velocity.

Good idea. Whats the current average rate for buying websites? 12-24x monthly earnings? I am afraid that he will be too confident now and will demand lots of money, but lets see.

Regarding your website - well I have the same mistake as you. I didnt add any new content or links for a very long time. Perhaps thats a huge ranking factor now? Not sure though.

Well I add content almost daily. Now reaching close to 1000 posts. But new links are only the natural ones, did some outreach, but that's it. Link velocity surely is a factor, however I don't believe this has anything to do with the new google algo update since August.

But it's also not possible for average sites to get links from thousands or hundreds of media outlets like the big players do.
