Before telling someone else to stop giving bad advice how about you stop giving bad advice yourself?
You can rag on about duplicate content all you like, but at the end of the day each piece of duplicate content is treated the same as any other piece of content.
Sure, if you just submit a duplicate article somewhere and don't do anything else, it will get filtered out the results, but so will a unique article if you don't do anything else to it. What do you think people are doing ??? THIS IS EXACTLY THAT THEY DO
If, however, you build quality links to the duplicate articles it is more than possible to have all of them ranking on the first page for the one keyword.
If you're going to go through that much work then YOU MIGHT AS WELL HAVE UNIQUE CONTENT....and build regular backlinks and get better results
I've done this and so have many other people.
If Google just randomly filters out any form of duplicate content, then why don't they do the same thing for lyrics? It does on articles and press releases...i have seen it over and over and over again. People also have something else besides lyrics on the page..but again....MAJORITY speaks not minority. Why dont you show us 1 article on page that has the SAME CONTENT and has been on page 1 for a while AND i'm talking about what WE USE......ezine, goarticles, etc
Search for the lyrics of any popular song and you'll see the same content on the first 20-30 results.
Submitting the same article to thousands of directories is called syndication, it is not going to get you any trouble with the search engines. Again, if you do nothing to the articles once you submit them they will fall out of the rankings, however, build links to them and they won't. Who's talking about trouble? I said FILTER not PENALTY. What you're saying is work EXTRA HARD to build backlinks to a duplicate content. There's no point in doing that. Again....Google FILTERS the content EVEN if you build backlinks to the copy .
