I have a 3 month old website and doing pretty good on serp always on page one and ranging from 5th to 2nd place on g**gle search result depending on the country.

**Yesterday, I made 8 blogs (free blog around the net), linkwheel style pointing to my main site. never closed the wheel and i think 4 or 5 of the new blog got indexed pretty fast (within 2 hours with out bookmarking)

**Yesterday I made a minor change to my main site (my main site is a wordpress blog), I approved a couple of comments and checked the option on comment option to display the newer comment first instead of the older one.

**Today my main site is nowhere to be found if i search the main keyword

**Last week I used autopligg with my main site but although it has a lot of success post most of it are not even indexed until now ( perhaps 20 to 30 pligg site was indexed since i run the autopligg)

**My site is G**gle sniper type of blog and trageting a specific keyword.

**My site is still indexed and if I search the domain name my blog is the first result

**If I search my main keyword in g**gle, the main page of my site is nowhere to be found but one of the blog post/page is currently in 5th or 6th page

**My site got reviewed by domain provider/registrant a couple of days ago (but was fixed easily after I emailed the registrant/domain provider that maybe somebody is harassing me since I perform good in search engine and I have a lot competitor on the keyword that I targeted. (I have no Illegal content on my site so basically just one of those harassment).

** Main site Got 115 or so backlink according to backlinkwatch, 150 or so backlink according to yahoo siteexplorer.

** within the three month period just promoted my site through bookmarking and web 2 linkwheel.

MY QUESTION is: Is my site being penalized BY G**gle? or hopefully this just one of those so called g**gle dance. or one of my competitor is sabotaging my site to be thrown off on serp? or I Unknowingly change some set up in my wordpress option and this is the result.

I'll appreciate any input from the members of bhw especially to those who are experienced in seo.
Please ask if you need specific info to answer my question. Thank you very much.

I understand your concerns, as I have recently encountered the same situation :(

I had a site that ranked #7 on google for my main keyword, and that was within a week or two, and without backlinks etc.

It stayed there for around 2 months, and was generating some adsense revenue, so I decided to make some changes and try to optimize the site as best I could, to get it at its full potential, seen as originally I only spent around 1-2 hrs getting it up and running, and there was nothing unique about the site, except the domain name :)

I decided to make a new page, and place all my current posts on that page, and have an original article as my home page. So I made the new page and allocated the posts to that page, but did not place an original article on the homepage for around 4 days, which I think turned out to be a big mistake!

Within a week my site was getting no traffic, and is no-where to be seen in the SERPs except for the domain name.

I have completed the site now, and optimised it very well, and have original content too, but 3 weeks on........ still the same results :(

Would everyone agree that I have been penalised for duplicate content on my site? Due to having the same content on 2 different pages?

Or is there something I may be missing?

    Either way, VERY FRUSTRATING!!! :)

as you say you still see your site if you type domain - so you should not worry too much.
I always say it is much easier to get high ranking than keeping it there. Don't forget Rankings are by nature dynamic and you have to stay on top of it. I would suggest keep building relevant and quality backlinks and don't fix it if its not Broken.
Too many times I see clients starting to panic and start changing shit on indexed sites to "improve" only to mess it it up.
Again keep on working on it and if you do quality and honest work you'll be back in the game in few days, maybe weeks but it depends on too many factors.
    Good luck, mate.

I have seen the exact thing happen to my site. My domain is the actual KW and I still don't rank. Been #1 for a week actually but now nowhere to be found exept for a post on page 5. Crazy it seems pretty easy to ge to top but damn they slapped me down quick. Also I thought exact KW for domain name would be a garauntee first page.

    @ j0kerz - I really hope it is

@ adislcs - thanks for the input..I'm actually panicking since that's my only decent site and giving me a nice income. I'll try your suggestions and hope i'll be back soon. By the way, when you said "quality and honest work" does it mean, no more automated bookmarking and the likes of autopligg and bookmarkwiz?

@sampo1time - How old is your site? and what method you used to promote or to rank your site aside from choosing your keyword as your domain name. If you search g**gle for your domain name was your site on number one spot? I guess we are really experiencing the same thing.

@qxygene - sandbox is the first thing that comes to my mind but my site is not really new about 3 months old and actually have pr4. and as I have mentioned earlier if I search in g**gle for my domain name my site still on the number one spot (or is it supposed to be number one if you search your domain name regardless of being in a sandbox or not?)

    Thanks for the replies guys..

In fact, 3 months is the usual time that I end up in the sandbox.

This is nothing out of the ordinary.

Build quality links, as many as you can.

This means either relevant, or high PR.

Because you have had your rankings hit, I would advise statying away from blogs with common spam words on them, unless of course thats your niche (viagra, cialis, medifast etc.

    Tip for the future:

Have more than 1 site so events like this are not a problem for you.

Hi micallef, Thanks for the reply, If my site is sandboxed is it normal that if i searched for my main keyword in g**gle, though the main site/url (http://mydomain.com) cannot be found, one of my post on my blog is still ranked (5th page) and if i build a link and promote this specific post for my main key word (http://mydomain.com/rankedat5thpage) will it improve the ranking for this specific post?

sorry if my question is confusing but i hope you got what i mean. Thanks again..

I apologize if anyone considers this off topic, but what is "sandbox"? I am very new to the darker side of SEO. Thanks.

how new is your site? I find new wordpress blogs tend to get a lot of love early on, before taking a dive for a while. After about 6-8 months if you build yourself up to a first page placement, you're a lot more likely to hold it in my opinion. Anything that happens to my serp position in the first 6-8 months i don't take too seriously. Just keep building and you should be fine with time.
