Google DMCA Notice

I got an message from Google that one of my links has received a DMCA report. As a result, on that link the ads are disabled.

Due to this kind of violation, I can't use the standard "Request Review" option from Adsense to solve the issue, instead I need to apply for a DMCA counter notification.

The problem occurred when I saw this: "If you submit a counter notification (whether through our web form or by other means), your contact information will be forwarded to the original complainant".

Even if the DMCA report is real or fake, I didn't own the data from that link (in this case, some pictures), and as a side note if I don't send the counter notification: "If we do not receive a counter-notification from you within 10 days, we may revoke your Adsense approval".

As a first step, I removed the link from the site, but what do you think I should do next?

Would the violation disappear if I deleted the link from the site?

Should I send a fake counter-notification? It does matter from which google account I send it? Because I saw that you can have access to that form from any account.

1. Since you already have received a DMCA claim you'd have to answer it. Even if you remove it, you'll have to answer it formally.

2. Google might still remove/ban adsense account based on your location, account standings. Removing the link (DMCA claim) doesn't prove good faith.

I never had any problem with my google account until now. I understand that this is an issue, but I can't control what every user do on the site, or better say, not in the right time. So, from time to time, this kind of situation can appear and the only thing I can do is to remove the content.

Fake counter notice will get you in trouble for sure, you better remove it and if there is option to send message Just send them that you have resolved the issue.

Those clowns (Link-Busters.com) sent a DCMA takedown to google, the accusation was false so I wrote a counter notification and won it, the takedown notice was for the name of a big company and yet I received an e-mail from google saying that they're not taking action this time, don't be afraid of those assholes, they just abusing the system.

It looks like that guy removed the link, then sent a 'counter notice' - saying that the content was removed or something like this. Maybe you could do this too. I would suggest you make a post there, without disclosing your adsense publisher account number initially. See what suggestions you get.

I don't even know who is the person/company who reported me. In the message from google or in the account I don't have such information. I only have the link reported.

I don't think it is mandatory to claim that the content is yours in the 'counter notice'. You can just remove the content and write that you've removed it, your writer gave it to you, you didn't know bla bla bla.

Well, that's just my thought, may not be accurate.

Yep, that is the thing. If you want you can send a false claim to your competitor to bring him/her down. Moreover, Google or any one will not show the contact info or contact person. You'd have to report instead that you have moved it, and then mail back to Google or DMCA.

Is quite of unfair. I can't see who reported me, but if I send the counter-notice, the reporter will receive my details.

Yeah, it sucks. Just a part of the business though. Definitely a better situation than the Getty images shakedowns that were happening the last few years!

Just take down the content, respond letting them know the content has been removed. It was user submitted and you appreciate them helping you make the internet a better place. It was all just a happy misunderstanding.

I received DMCA URL takedown on July 7. There was a torrent link on my page about Adobe Classroom. Look what they write on counter notification page:

Please note: If the content on the page was infringing at the time the original removal request arrived, your counter notice is not legally valid. Do not submit a counter notice if there was illegal content, even if it's now been removed.

So I didn`t. And I don`t care at all I must say.

Hi, i have the same situation. I got dmca url takedown before 2 days, only for one page of my website. I deleted that page, i can not also write a counter notice. What happened with your adsense account? Dmca takedown notice disappeared?
