Hi All,
I'm currently working with 3 local businesses running their Google ad campaigns for them and would like some feedback on how I can go about improving some campaigns that I am running for them.
Company A & Company B are taxi companies operating in the local area. They're both owned by the same people but operate as two separate entities.
Company C is an online booking platform specifically for Airport Taxis.
Below are the metrics for all companies over the past 30 days
Company A:
Below is a breakdown of my ad strategy for companies A and B:
Company C I can see is doing relatively well in terms of CPC and CTR, however, isn't converting well. Many people go through to the booking page but not a lot of checkouts. I have made the following suggestions to them:

Below are the metrics for all companies over the past 30 days

- 5 campaigns with an overall CTR of 14.50%
- Average CPC of £0.23
- Conversion rate of 76% (conversions are: a phone call at £5 per phone call, app download at £5 or web booking recording as viewing the booking page with a value of 0.1 per view)

- 5 campaigns with an overall CTR of 15.53%

- Conversion rate of 47.53% (conversions are: add to basket as £0.01 if they viewed the booking page and purchase as £10 if they went through to the thank-you page)
- Overall ad spend £831.70
Below is a breakdown of my ad strategy for companies A and B:
- 4 campaigns
- 3 focusing on 8-hour intervals (Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00, 16:00-00:00 & 00:00-08:00) and the final just focusing on the weekend.
- Campaigns focused in the city +20m radius
- All campaigns share the same ad groups which are
- Generic taxi words - keywords include: taxi near me
- Dynamic ad group
- specific services - keywords include: airport taxi, minibus taxi
- Keywords have primarily been broad match except for the brand name which has been an exact match
- Each ad group has one detailed search ad focusing on the keywords in the ad group as well as one call ad.
- 1 campaign
- Focused on a particular area of the city the company wanted to grow in
- 4 ad groups consisting of
- generic taxi words
- dynamic ad group
- area-focused - keywords include: taxi in {area}
- competitor focused keywords - keywords include: {competitor} taxi alternative
- Keywords have primarily been broad match except for the brand name which has been an exact match
- Each ad group has one search ad and one call ad also
- 4 campaigns
- Each campaign is focusing on an airport + 20-30 mile radius
- Ad groups are
- Generic airport taxi words - keywords include: airport taxi near me, cheap airport taxi etc
- [airport of interest] words - keywords include: cheap taxis near {airport name}
- dynamic ad group
- Each ad group has 1 search ad with landing pages that include the targeted keyword.
Company C I can see is doing relatively well in terms of CPC and CTR, however, isn't converting well. Many people go through to the booking page but not a lot of checkouts. I have made the following suggestions to them:
- Implement an abandoned cart for people who have entered their details but didn't check out offering some discount code.
- Offer a discount code pop-up on exit intent
- Add a live chatbot function for any customer questions and to improve trust
- They don't currently have reviews, maybe start adding reviews on Google or Trustpilot to improve brand trust
In terms of my questions, I want to see if someone could help with the following:
- To check performance, what key metrics (columns) do you have for:
- Campaigns
- Ad Groups
- Keywords
- How could I go about lowering the ad spend?
- I have looked at negative keywords but google is doing well at not matching the ad to any bad keywords that aren't relevant to the business. If there are any bad keywords, they only have 1 click for example so it makes me feel like it is a tedious/useless exercise to fine-comb through all of these search terms.
- For companies A & B, I have quite a lot of keywords in one ad group for example, in the airport taxi group, I have 72 keywords. Are these too many keywords for one ad group?
- When looking through the search terms, how do I know which keywords to start adding?
- over the past 30 days, I am looking at the keywords that resulted in the best CTR and conversion rates and adding these but again, most keywords only have 3-4 clicks per word but accumulate over all the search terms to a significant amount. The ones that do have a high number of clicks are either words that I have already added or ones that are an exact match or phrase match with keywords that I have already added.
