Function to write private notes about users

I was wondering if anyone has discussed the possibility of adding notes to a users profile that are private and only you can see if you add them. I would find it useful to be able to leave a note possibly like these examples.

"Spoke to this person before in PM's they do xyz and are on the look out for xyz"

"This person is a fucking clown dont pay any attention to anything they post"
(again this is private and only you would be able to see it)

"This person offers a great service for xyz and has offered me xyz deal"

"This persons views are xyz on this subject so bare that in mind"

etc etc.

I think this ability would be very useful if used for genuine purposes, if it's private I dont see any room for abuse. Obviously if something like this were to be implemented I think it would have to be private to avoid any drama or feedback manipulation.

Or maybe even a private feedback system where you can rate other members but the results and score are only visible to you personally, no one needs to hurt other peoples feelings or cause drama. If its something important you can leave actual feedback if you have done business with the person.

What are your thoughts? Good idea, bad idea? Has it already been discussed?

Don't know if it has been discussed before or not, but I surely like the idea!

Till this is implemented, make two folders in your Inbox. First for "Serious" and second for "Clowns".

@krishnaverma has the right idea. If you've PMed the member, you can use the folders feature in your inbox to organise your conversations.

What's also neat about the folders feature is that you can use the folder descriptions as notes. As far as I'm concerned, there's no character count limit for the descriptions section, so you don't have to worry about dealing with thatt (I copy/pasted that example filler paragrah 6 times without running into any issues).


Even if you haven't PMed the member you want to keep track of, you can always just create an empty conversation folder called "Notes" and use the description field for general forum notes. The folder description doesn't have any formatting, but the line breaks are saved in the editor and the field is expandable, so you can make your notes easier to read that way.

Sorry it's taken so long to get an official response on these. We've discussed this in-house and it's going to be a no for now. As @krishnaverma and @Zwielicht have discussed above, you can organise this kind of thing using functionality that already exists.
