Can i have my anchors same as my keyword or should it be focused on branding? If i am using the keywords for the anchors will it affect the ranking?

you should use keyword as anchor at most 5% preferably even less; all your anchors must be very varied such as brand, URL, related terms, etc.

Keywords can be the anchors but not in all places. You should concentrate more on diversified anchors rather than just using KWs - Primary , Secondary, LSI, branded, generic, naked URLs.
Also, try to add 2-3 links from single post/page with different anchors - Like 1 main KW, 1 LSI and 1 generic KW can be a good combo & looks natural too. I dont usually recommend to use exact match anchors more than 10-20%.

Exact match anchors are one of the most overrated and in the same time, dangerous things in SEO.
There are niches where a high percentage of exact anchors is natural. However in, for example, most amazon niches, anything above 1% is way too much. Google knows what your site is about if your onsite SEO is on spot. It does not need tons of exact and partial anchors. You can very well rank without even using them once. With every bigger update, the important of exact match anchors drops. Benefit from ideal exact anchors is low and danger pretty huge. Once your offsite SEO is overoptimised, you will have a very hard time fixing your site.
So focus on brand and URL anchors at first. Then, after a few months, keep adding partial and exact anchors.
My drunk head just came up with this analogy...
Let's take salt for example. You cook yourself a food, overdo it with salt and your food is pretty much screwed. But if you add it slowly and test the food after each drop of salt, then you will end up with a perfectly "optimised" dinner.
