Recently started doing a bunch of testing for what exactly is the current best setup for a wordpress site theme/settings/plugins wise. It's still so early for all these sites there is not much for me to go off yet.

Was wondering what everyone else thinks or has found out through trials and testing on what settings and plugins are best for their wordpress site SEO wise. What are your go-to settings and plugins that are always a must have, in relation to ranking as good as possible ?

You should choose a seo-friendly design and in wordpress settings you should change the default permalink structure to "Post name"

And of course yoast plugin

You also need something to block spam and protect the account. Like Vaultpress or Akismet

yoast is all for to cover all major and minor factors

Yoast SEO suffers from the problem that it has way too many settings - I am now using more and more THE SEO FRAMEWORK plugin.

Not only the plug-ins that optimize meta tags or titles are good for SEO

There are many plug-ins that will help you rank better, for example, WP Super Cache, which will create an HTML file based on your actual website, to serve your page faster to the visitors. (very important factor today)

Image optimizers/compressors are also important, and of course, your website needs to be responsive.
