Ebook Question?

Okay guys I've been working on an E-book to market to complete newbies, as well as people just interested in making quick money. My question is, my plan was to put the E-book on my website, and content lock the download with a paid survey or something like that. Most people are telling me I should only require an Email opt-in for the download. I am looking to make money from it soon after releasing it, that's why I planned on content locking it and promoting it in certain forums, youtube, and facebook groups. Do you guys think I will be able to convert with the content locker? or only an email opt-in? thanks for any input you may have about this!
