Does server location effect site speed

Hi Guys

I have a site that loads quickly in the UK, but loads really slow in Japan.

The only thing i can think of, is that server is in the UK - Would that really have that much of an impact?

If you have many visitors from Japan and page loads slow, so yeah it will impact in SEO and the bounce rate, no doubt
 
Yes, server location is a big factor when it comes to loading the website from different locations,
I will advise you to use a CDN to solve that issue.
 
It does and better host the site in same country where you have most visitors. CDN is good option but its not as good as hosted solution.
 
Its called ping in normal language.Its a time of the request sent by the client to the sever and server respond to the client.Website speed depends on internet, location of the server and speed of the server. but it shouldn't be much slower to due the placement of server. I guess there is some server issue. you might contact the support..
