Hi, just had this thought in my mind of whether our govt spies and reads our emails and watches what we do on the internet?

I just signed up into this ministry of govt site to check an availability of a business name and don't know why but since then this thing has been on my mind that the govt of any country in the world can spy and see what the people are doing.

Some interesting articles on this -

The "Sitting At Your Computer" and "Sending and Receiving Mails" from the huffington article caught my attention.

So, are our emails being spied upon from time to time?

Please no trolling or joking here. Just wanted to have this discussion with fellow BHWers.

Yes. depending on what you are searching for etc, there are certain watchwords that will raise flags.

this is not really news.
I know but I'm now concerned more. There are my personal and business emails and I don't want any to read. Period.

Do you think getting a business email for all purpose including personal, is the only solution?

Question is are you big enough to care about this ? In a post Marz Zuckerberg Shared on FB, he had his laptop webcam taped up.

It depends in which country you live and what you have to hide.
But in general the answer is no.

If you have something to hide take some measure to hide your tracks, if not accept the reality that we are spied and we are to an extent helpless.
If Mark z should hide his cam in his laptop then we do not stand a chance!

Most email companies will just hand your emails over to the government.
And if they refuse, they will be forced to shut down.
Anybody remember Lavabit?

Understand cryptography and encryption concept. Don't read news, they have no idea how things work :p

Govt also higher brilliant engineer, for example matt cutts have leave Google and join govt company. Some engineers are cable to find vulnerability on specific cryptography and encryption algorithm. And that's why they are capable to read even encrypted message from iphone. Because they found vulnerability on it but they will not going report it, instead they take advantages and decrypt secret message.

They might have find vulnerability on Gmail and Facebook as well, but they are not going to disclose, they will use on certain condition.

If you're curios about privacy and security then instead of reading news, prepare yourself, and understand how things work.

Certain condition mean some high level security issue, for example terrorist information. Don't include blackhatmethod or torrents(except their owner) things on that ;)

They've been doing it for more than 2 decades now (even way longer than that). So yeah, nothing new.

If you want to be sure that somebody doesn't read or save your stuff there's only 1 option, do it offline.

I definitely attracted the goverment since i'm involved in the paranormal activites someone even told me I was being recruited
