Do nofollow backlinks help?

As I said in the title, I'm confusing if nofollow backlinks are helping to improve my website position on SERP or not?
I mean, google bot will not follow the link if it was place with a nofollow meta-script. But does that mean those links will not help at all?

I believe any link worth in a way or other; even for profile and diversity or rankings ( as Wikipedia for example )

Both nofollow and ******** links are helpful. Nofollow does help you in getting some traffic and also with google updating so frequently you never know when it could yield more results.

If the no-follow link can drive at least small of traffic, it's worth it. Else, good quality relevant d0-follow link is helpful for ranking.

At least they won't do worse, then why not to use them. If the resource has traffic it will help you in one or other way. More visitors, links diversity, etc.

Nofollow links are not a ranking metric for Google but traffic is. So, if you make 1 million nofollow links with 0 traffic, Google ignores it and could even downgrade your sites in SERPs for abnormal nofollow vs ******** ratio. But if you have 1 or more links from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc that drive over 1k traffic to your site every day, then there is high chance that you'll make it to first page on low-comp keywords or top 10 in medium-high comp keywords.

There are some sites that made it to 1st position exclusively based on reddit traffic (>20k/day high-comp kw). So, you need to focus on the traffic potential while building nofollow backlinks.

Even 1 nofollow link from High Authority domain helps in rankings. Just focus to get max. possible links from High DA sites.

Although no-follow links do not cater any flow of link juices or link authority, it does not mean that they do not hold any importance for SEO. If placed at the right place, any link, follow or no follow, can get you some serious referral traffic. Which is a ranking factor for search engines as well. Also, a good balance of no follow and do follow links is essential for maintaining a healthy backlink profile.

You should maintain balanced number of nofollow vs ******** links. Every link matters if it diverts traffic to your site.

Every link can bring certain benefits. Especially, if people can see it and click on it. Yes, it does little in terms of ranking but a NoFollow link creates diversity to your overall link profile. You can't have only DF links to your website as this doesn't look natural to Google.

I know that when I add a nofollow link from Wikipedia, Forbes etc, I get a nice rank boost. So yes, they help in my experience, but as with all links, quality, high authority links only.
