Deleted Analytics (MAJOR SERP RISE!)

I have a HUGE rank increase and click increase after I added my G+ profile to all of my blog pages.
I also never got any traffic from Yahoo or the MSN before adding their tracking info.
Then again, I am not black hat at all.

I just deleted Google Analytics from one of my site. Will report back in few days.
 
There has always been a correlation between analytics and serp rises and falls been talked about but there has never been any real test put into place where it was proven one way or another. This could just be a total coincidence especially if you have been continually link building the whole time.

Maybe just chalk it down to coincidence and leave analytics unistalled.

I just do not add anything google related if I don't have to. Russians say: "The more silent you go, the further you will get."

With analytics Google can test the real bounce rate per keyword. So if you have a high bounce rate it might be best to remove it.
 
bullshit. having analytics on your site or not will not affect your rankings.

But if you believe this crap please try to defend your case.
 
Subscribed to see any other results and will probably try this on one or two of my sites as well.
 
So for the people not using Analytics, what do you use for tracking? whan lancis said makes sense. It's like in AdWords with Quality Score.
 
Piwik all the way. And some hosts have it on their quick install list.

I'd bet my farm is all coincidental...too many fluctuations out there at the moment...the other day my rankings dropped, that day I went for a run, therefore...

Anyway, interesting topic. And if I were you, don't bring back Analytics

That darn thing never showed clicks on my buy button. News to me because I get sales. It also said that I had an ecommerce site with 0 sales. Even Awstats in the control panel picks up when people click on the buy button. It looked terrible to be competing with major stores and Google said that I had no sales. I deleted it and will never use it again.
 
Giving this a try as i have lost all faith in google.
Site has been online for 10+years with a pr3 and always ranked well!
Panda hit and i dropped a few places!
Penguin hit and i dropped 35+ pages (not places - PAGES)
Penguin 2.0 hit and returned back to page 8 (increase of 27 pages)
Sometime in the last week i have dropped again? back to page 40+

So turned it off about 6 hours ago - Will report back in a few days!

Remember to remove Google +1 if you have one installed. That thing runs JavaScript as well, and if Google is as smart as I think it is, it would jump on the opportunity to measure your traffic stats any way possible.
 
Wow, darrensss - almost exactly what happened to me! Only my site is over 11 years old and pre-Panda was ranking at a PR of 5 - dropped to 0, now back at 3 but SERPS results still stink, leaving me another lost ship sinking...

Anyway, fascinating conversation, as I've been seriously thinking of taking that code off my pages, too. Like someone said, it's like inviting the enemy right smack into your home (and bank account) these days. I've been flip-flopping on this decision for about a year but now I'm going to try it, too. At this point I don't think it could hurt me any more than the Gmen already have. :(

I have another large site, about 9 years old that does better and I didn't do nearly as much optimization and link building on it - but never installed any Analytics code on it, either.

I understand why some think it's not possible, but maybe it's time to consider the possibility it is - this isn't the first place I've read this kind of thing in the past year. Just a thought. Anyway, thanks for all the input everyone. Will follow this topic, too, please keep us updated if you're trying this and I will, too.

Piwik seems to be the next best option.

And for everyone else, I'm getting rid of Analytics too. Lets see if that changes anything.
 
Didn't the last "Whiteboard Friday" say that Google was looking at bounce rates and site dwell time? Seems to me that if you have GA installed, the level of detail of the information they have on your site is going to be much higher. Maybe the other information collection tools (I think Chrome Toolbar was one) will get the same information, but they'll need more time to get the same information compared to if your site reported it for each and every visitor. So, removing GA might CHANGE the ranking, but it could go one way or the other, until the data averages out.

Personally, I think the core of the issue is whether or not people think that Google is willing to punish people for using a tool that they'd like EVERYONE to install. If anything, one would think a large, multi-national corporation might give it's best data sources a slight boost in rankings.
