Deleted Analytics (MAJOR SERP RISE!)

I dedicated the last 2 hours to understanding how Google can benefit from a system that is able to track traffic worldwide. Under benefit, I mean to improve their ranking algorithm. There is a major flaw in Brin's original algorithm, roughly it tries to estimate the probability of a document 'd' given a query 'q', e.q. p(d|q). The higher is p(d|q) the higher you will rank. Whoever familiar with Bayes theory will know that:

Code:
p(d|q) ~ p(q|d) * p(d)

The probability of document p(d) is what we know as page rank. Its calculated using pairwise probabilities p(document1|document2), e.q. the probability of landing on document1 given you're now on document2. Lately, Google seem to give less weight to that component because its estimated using backlinks, and backlinks is our core business here on BHW (the flaw I'm talking about) :-) Imagine, what would happen if Google was able to estimate that component using traffic flow. Thats a game change, and if I were Google thats where I would aim.

Google analytics, Chrome, any buttons you install can do that.

Maybe someone will call this coincidence. But, I removed GA when I saw this thread. I haven't done anything on the site after it was slapped by peng.

Today, I gained +15 positions for 1 kw, +49 positions for 2nd kw. +94 positions for 3rd kw.

It's great that your site is doing well but it's hard for me to believe this is anything more than a coincidence.

-This is not directed at OP specifically- Most people don't have any clue what is exactly causing what when it comes to their sites and the minute and sometimes drastic SERP movements that occur to their sites let alone whether or not removing analytics was the causing factor for a rank bump.

I thought it was a well known fact that if you have analytics on your website google uses the data(bounce rate, time on site and etc) to determine the websites rank.

Just checked my competition for a keyword of mine that got slapped. All of them have a similar backlink profile to me and 90% of them use analytics.

I don't think there is any correlation towards this.

Hey gang, anyone else have an update for your sites that have removed GA? The test site I had removed it from got an interested party (it was for sale) and they wanted traffic details, so I put it back on. No results for that basically. Good news is that the site sold today and it has made me a good amount of money!

Anybody else gaining in the serps?

No increase here. I dropped several spots.

I guess I am putting it back. Didn't work for me.

removed it on two sites... one site dident move other site jumped from 10 spot to 6 still not sure if its because of this but i havent built links to that site in like 4 months.. and was stuck at position 10 for competitive keyword

Congratulations Arizona!

Has anyone had a site hit by Penguin without analytics installed?

Thought I would toss this in: My website was smacked down HARD for trash links (never doing that again). All of my blog posts and pages would show up in Google for whatever term, but my domain would not show up. you could seriously search for "example.com" and it wouldn't be there, but "example.com/blog" would be.
I added my G+ profile to EVERYTHING. Shortly after: Now my site comes up when searching for "example" without the dotcom as well as a pic and description of me. Not only that but when searching with .com on the end. My site comes up with one of those cool 6 packs linking to important pages within my site.

Hey, sorry for sounding nubish, but how do I add my site to google + Profile ? Cuz I guess you aren`t talking about adding a g+ button on the website.. so how do I do it ? :)

Interesting observation, but I don't see how removing your analytics could cause your rankings to rise. Probably correlation, not causation.

I added Analytics to one of my websites months ago and have had a slow but comfortable, continuous increase in traffic ever since.

i deleted on 2 of my sites ( 2nd and 3 Page) Google Analytics and WMT 2 days ago.

Since now no move in SERPs

I've seen a increase of traffic by 15%, also alot more keywords are being shown.

If Google was trying to data mine us and the web as a whole (which I agree they are), they would give you a healthy increase in traffic/ranking when you add their software (in order to get you hooked on it), and then data mine the shit out of your site. If anything, they would penalize people for removing code if their end-game was to get software on your site.
