Deleted Analytics (MAJOR SERP RISE!)

This is precisely why I've never used google analytics. It's never made sense to give the enemy direct access to everything I do.

This is pretty much my own view, you can't get an un-natural link message if you don't use it.I have known all websites in an account get hit because one site was penalised.

how could it matter much when you still have webmaster tools installed? GWT has access to your site and collects enough data itself. how can only removing analytics make a difference?

GWT installs only a verification code,if you ever took a look inside.
With Google Analitycs is something completely different.Anyway,I'm 95% sure the removal haven't caused the change.

i was skeptic of analytic and i did not even put the analytic and still i was hit with penguin and not recovered ever since

just deleted my analytics in one of my site. will let you know how it goes in a few days.

It's obviously not the only cause of Penguin and Panda hits....

One of my slapped sites started to fade after 2-3 days after placing the analytics code on every of its pages, around 300, but this can also be the cause of recent updates.

I don't personally believe G is so evil to make use of analytics and slap our sites, but I keep an eye open intro this.

All i want out of Google is SERPS. I use other methods to track analytics.
I'm not putting their code on my site unless I absolutely have to. It's bad enough that Google behave like "Big Brother - but why would you invite Big Brother to your dinner table?
I've had similar experiences in terms of movements I've taken clients sites out of analytics, but doubt there is much too them. Probably coincidence - but interesting all the same.

Scritty

Glad to hear you got rid of it. I hope you don't go back.

I don't understand why so many people use Analytics in the first place. Your websites are like real estate and by using Analytics it's as if you're allowing Google to install cameras on your 'property.'

All SEO is self serving. Black or white hat, the object is the same. There are so many other stats programs around, there's just no need to use one that helps make Google more omniscient than it already is.

G obviously do not need analytics or any other tool to analyze the links or anything else. It can do it with or without them. If it can rank your site without them, it can also demote your site without them as well. So my opinion is that it is coincedental. Still it's a good thing you brought it up. By the way, what's the next best alternative to analytics?

I was thinking about removing analytics from my sites as well. Why would i hand them the keys to the city?
Just recently installed Piwik on one of my spare domains to serve as my personal analytics site and it works great, the same or better than Google analytics. Recommend it to anyone.

I have some doubts about the Analytics being what's causing the problem.

But then again, I don't see Google as my "enemy", but as an ally.

this would be great to test, but i highly doubt it.

however, all my friends don't use any google products and swear by it. I am also migrating away and just using piwik for tracking. it works great and there's a good iPhone app for it!
