Create WEB2.0 Structures Yourself - A Simple Method

question...did this method survive Panda unscathed? Can we expect the same results now, as opposed to a year ago?

Google will never penalize someone for opening a blog and writing lots of unique posts.

Three days later, I logged back in and put in the ?banker? piece, and the video. The banker piece has three links in it. Two are self-serving (one to my main URL and want to and in a page of my website) and a third is to a general authority site in the field. You get away with three links as you have a multiple post piece

so you never link your hubs to each other, or am I reading that wrong? Two links to your money site, and one to an authority site...but no random link to another hub?

Why throw out a link to an authority site as one of your 3 links? Great post by the way!

so you guys are putting all this great content on a web 2.0 site. Why do that when you can buy a nice aged domain with yahoo or dmoz inclusion and put the content there?

One of the factor is different IPs. It takes lots to maintain own hosting one IP per domain.
If you have money to spend, it is one good way to go.

In my experience to get do-follow on Squidoo you should focus on getting most of your stuff over the 70% competition line, if you get a few of those you will get do-follow. Don't ask how many though, haven't paid attention to that

That's right. There should be no connections. It needs to be as if every web 2.0 is created by another person who does not know the owner of the other web 2.0s.

that's not my concern. I'm worried that profile backlinks and comment posts have little weight now. Panda was supposed to crack down on that.

well yes, but I thought the point of a link wheel was to connect all of your hubs together as well. Sort of a moronic point, but look at any linkwheel structure graph and they will show the hubs connected to each other, in a circle I might add..a.k.a. a wheel.

I'm not a big believer in circular linking, I randomize it. But scritty, you never link your hubs? I could see why you wouldn't want to, because any G employee with half a brain could figure it out...but isn't there a reason to link them page weight wise?

This is not a link wheel. This thread is about creating other authority blogs and then linking them to your main site, effectively giving you very strong authority links to your main website.

A linkwheel can apparently be detected by Google and could be seen as a farm of sorts.

The point is these authority blogs are infallible and they work.

Wanted to say Thanks to Scritty for opening my eyes (yet again) to another mistake I have been making. Seriously, everyone reading this far should go back to page one and click the wee "Thanks" link.

For me, the most valuable piece of advice has been to get dictation sw. I have tried many different content outsourcing options and I have never been happy with the results. And that has been a severe drain on my business cause with only a few hours in a day to work, I cannot spend it all building a couple of pages of readable content.

While reading through all 170+ posts, some ideas came to mind that I wish to share.

1. Strategy wise, I think it might help people to think of 'layers' instead of wheels or pyarmids or networks. Layer 1 is our target pages/money pages. Layer 2 is our web2 'hubs or groups'. Layer 3 is any other sort of automated or near automated backlinking we can create (bookmarks, articles, etc).

2. Layer 2, the hubs are grouped logically based on topics. They link to Layer 1 most of the time and sometimes to external authorities.

Now, for some extra things that I have been thinking of
1. I would test making one or two of the web 2 accounts as leaders. They get posted to first then other members of the same group/other groups link to the leader/leaders in addition to Layer 1. This mimics real blogging. Someone posts content. Someone else reads about it and thinks it is useful and so they re-blog about it.

2. Have you ever tried linking internally inside each web2 site/blog. For example, many bloggers add a couple of links to related older posts inside new posts (for whatever reason). That might also reduce the risk of appearing as a self-promoter.

3. Stuck for content ideas? Head to the library. They have books and magazines on nearly any topic. Read stuff. Make notes. Then later convert your notes into blog content. Even if you hate the subject, by reading more on it you can more easily create your own ideas.

4. Have you ever thought of buying some aged high PR domains, setting up WP and building your own authority blogs that are yours to keep? I read that you did not like WP MU because of comment spam but that can be controlled fairly easily these days on regular WP blogs. Or even drupal/joomla for that matter.

Thanks again Scritty. Got to go find my old headset with mic now.

JC.

This thread is a must read for anyone new to SEO I think! People need to realize that grinding is the only way to the top!

Link wheels typically link to each other, like a wheel. This only has spokes.

Don't be such a smart ass.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em. Ok, but seriously...so what we're talking about here is completly different than your avg link wheel then. Interesting. ty.

To Scritty or anyone knowledgable here :) - *PLEASE* do answer my question, I'm begging you lol.

You emphasize a lot about adding more content on a weekly basis to web 2.0 sites, making unique and quality content is the way to go for SERPs. But what about 2.0 sites like HubPages, Squidoo, Youtube, you get the point. How can you "expand" your 2.0 using these? Making six quality posts on a 2.0 site like Blogger gives your site more authority, but making six hubs\lens on HubPages\Squidoo does not. Each hub is ranked individually and your it's not like your HubPages\Squidoo profile will get a higher link juice etc. So are you indirectly saying to use blog style sites like Wordpress, Blogger, etc so you can actually expand the site and give it more credibility instead of these "one-off" pages?

Also my blog style web 2.0 sites are mainly static. For example, if it's about a dog training niche, my sites will be organized into multiple pages only. Home, How to train a dog, Why train a dog, Contact Us, Privacy Policy.
So my question is when you add new content to your site, to your basically mean adding new pages or subpages or do you just make a new post like other bloggers do which then appears on your front page? And I don't know what content to regularly update. Following the same example, when initially creating the site, I would've given the content creation my all, making up every page I could possibly think of, and then later on I have no idea what else to add besides the old "latest research has shown that dog training is getting easier" and even that I can't be doing twice weekly\on a weekly basis. Get where I'm getting at?

And you're epic at BMD so I wanted to ask you whether using preloaded, high PR lists in BMD is sufficient or should I also use 1000s of scraped BM sites that are low PR and low quality? Are they worth the time and captchas for accounts\submission to them?
Also do you bother with high PR but no follow BM sites?
Thank you so much :) I've been reading every post you made on BHW lol

Thanks for all the great information Scritty!

I had a quick question about widows live writer. It is a great time saver, but there are many web2.0 properties, perhaps the majority of them, that wont work with WLW unfortunately.

Is there any other blogging tool that you use, or do you just do it the old fashioned way by logging in and posting manually?

Thanks again for all the priceless information!

Allen

Thanks for the priceless info., scritty,

Quick question:

Is there any way of automating the positive votes for a social bookmark?
(not sure if this can be done via BMD).

Or, is this outsourced using a service?

:D
Wow..YT must have started that about...30 seconds ago...:D
Are you new to YT are something and have never worked with it.????
I never post a yoututube video without my external link in the information section of the video description.
I even put tracking urls to watch which videos are getting click throughs..
Make the link at the top of the description..hit return twice..which leaves the link clean and standing above the fold..and you can then see no text..and then do your video description, tags etc..

Lol dunno why I wrote that. I meant to say they are nofollow. But fine in most regards.

Good spot (I must learn to write more slowly and think sometimes)

Scritty
