I hope everyone is doing well and making bank.
I'm moving overseas to the US in a few months time and it's a relatively small city (100k+) population.
It's a beautiful city along the coast and I think there is a lot of potential to build a website/directory where everyone could refer to find local businesses, real estate, jobs and almost everything you can think of.
I guess you could look at it as a Craigslist or Gumtree of that specific town. Have different sections on the website for real estate, jobs, services, etc. I could charge for featured listings. I think with an attractive UI and design, this could do really well.
On top of this, I could update it daily with general things like weather, news and things happening within the community. I feel like this would be the type of place to really turn to something like that in order to find what they're looking for. The community is very close, friendly and I think they would be very interested and open to a community based website like this.
The biggest challenge would be getting the name out there and acquiring a following but I think this is very doable with a lot of online/offline marketing methods. I could definitely implement some social media marketing, create a touristy type Instagram, do my own photography etc.
I'm really interested to hear what you guys have to say. Please feel free to give me some tips and pointers. This is a great city and I definitely feel like there is potential for something like this.
