Hey Black Hatters,
I've recently been noticing on Facebook that there are hundreds of viral videos gaining thousands of likes within a matter of days, and somehow some porn is getting on my news feed a lot lately as well, come on Mr Zuckerberg (although i'm not really complaining!)
Anyway to get to the point I started experimenting with some of my own Videos (i do acoustic covers of songs). BTW I usually average around 40+ likes per post to put the below into perspective.
This is what I did:
1. Posted a YT link of a video to my Facebook wall (the title wasn't amazing) and I got 25 likes and 12 comments (positive feedback). Nothing amazing really, and no virality (as in every like was a friend of mine).
2. I then decided to post another video file (of me singing a song very similar and by the same artist) directly to Facebook and bang. After 2 days i've received over 120 likes and 60% are friends of friends and people i don't know! I got over 25 comments so far, and the title wasn't anything amazing again.
Both songs were new unknown songs so there was no advantage for this second song to be more popular.
It's bitter-sweet. Why? I'm trying to start a new YT channel, and the best way to get initial views for me is through posting it on Facebook. But the thing I want is the virality and more exposure which I get from posting it directly on FB which means I get no YT views.
Probably a lot people already knew this about Facebook, but I thought i'd share my experience. There must be some kind of algorithm in Facebook to display YT clips less often, obviously.
