Hi BHW!

I hope u guys are enjoying the world cup 2010 as much as I am!

B4 the WC2010 started, I created my first website for the purpose of monetization.

Here is the website:
http://worldcup2010videos.com

*I'm getting 100~200 uniques per day

The problem is, I'm not making any money at all.
I've invested time and money into this project and I gained a lot of experience. However, I really wish to make money before the WC2010 ends and I believe there's a lot more to learn from this project.

I've got a few Q's and I'd be grateful if I could get some help:

1. Within this short period of time, whats the best way to drive more traffic to my site? Is it worth backlinking at this point? I currently use Facebook+Twitter to bring new people but its not enough.

2. Is it worth changing the ads at this point? My banners aren't getting any clicks. No conversions at all. Neither my PPC....nothing. Are there better ads I can place instead?

Thanks in advance for your help.

PS - For good will, I'll pay the person who gives me the best advice 30% of my profits (if I make any that is).

It's a pity because you can't really split test ads or see if anything else other than betting sites will work. For example taking a stab in the dark, you could try tangible products like football boots etc. But I wouldn't recommend switching things around now because it may be a week before you realize that actually, this is paying pennys.

Have you tried adsense actually? Usually adsense is craptastic. But with the worldcup being such a short window, Advertisers will be definitely looking to cash in.

If I was you, I would create really small highlights of important things in the match. So for example the latest controversy over the USA vs Slovenia game. If you made a small highlight of that, proving that the USA was robbed or whatever. And then submitted it to Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit etc. It would do really really well. It is too late for that particular video, but there is matches played every night, almost everyone has some controversial aspect to it.

I hang out on reddit all day avoiding work. And trust me, when that USA match was over. All hell broke lose and ALL the top stories were about that particular match. Infact the reddit team actually made a post a while back that their load on their server increased 30% after each match because people came to post their opinions on the game.

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm using adsense in individual posts. The rest of it is: CJ, and betfair.

I never thought of creating hype by creating articles with controversies - But that's a great idea and I'll give it a try! I'll also Digg/Reddit it and hopefully it'll catch on fire!

Any other suggestions on Ad placement or other networks that might get more clicks/more revenue??

Thanks!!

IMHO, you will still be able to monetize this site , long after the tournament is finished, cos ppl will want to see some the replays etc for a couple of months, even years after it is over.

think outside the box, and you will a result :)

Thanks, I agree that it'll still get traffic after the WC.

However the big issue here is I'm making $0 at the moment where there's supposed to be the highest number of traffic.

Plus if England/USA gets kicked out, I'll lose a lot of traffic, lol

Perhaps CPM would be a better alternative...

Any good CPM networks out there??
