Best online resource to learn SEO???

You can read and watch videos for years but you will only really start learning once you take action.
Start a website or another IM project and get your hands dirty.
Your first few attempts may fail but you will learn a lot in the process.

Besides BHW I have my favorite guy for learning SEO and that is Backlinko.

you’re probably asking where to get wine while standing right in a winery

It's just content and links.
There's really not that much to learn.
If you wanna spend money, though, and that'll make you feel better, there's a ton of scams out-there.

You could also try YouTube, for free, and search for lists of expert roundups, then look at their blogs.
Many guys have free content on SEO.
You will find that it's all just saying the same stuff, over and over again.

Content and Links.

HI again. As the title says, im looking for the best online place to learn SEO, google SEO. I am also interested in social media but I want to get a solid foundation with google and how SEO works first. I am currently studying on coursera but it does not convince me that much, neither does udemy. Thanks for any advice . Cheers
Just dive into doing some SEO. Take a relatively low volume keyword ("best underwater basket weaver in Katmandu") make a wordpress subdomain site (underwaterbasketweavingkatmandu.wordpress.com) and get it ranking in SERPs. Try writing blogposts, write a long landing page with keywords in H tags, make some citations and socials, watch how the site moves up the SERPs. Also notice how often, your social profiles (pinterest etc) will rank really fast but will trickle down the rankings over time as your main site climbs up.
Test everything. Check out courses, of course, but for every chapter you watch, do a corresponding amount of work.

In addition to BHW, Moz has some good beginner information.

I think BHW is good place to learn SEO. I also usually read some posts of SEO on BHW :D

Hello theidleman,

I totally and completely understand what you mean and what you are going through, I myself have tried to gain knowledge about SEO from various online courses as well as offline courses. In my experience, none of those were really helpful. All you gain is theoretical knowledge. therefore I would advise you to go for more and more practice. build up your own website and go with hit and trial methods to make it rank on top. Trust me within 3-6 months, you'll develop a strong SEO base. Also if you can, internships are also a great way of learning.

I would only recommend blackhatworld simply because of the sheer amount of seo content it has from keyword research to generating links this forum has it all

You will get many free source and youtube videos for learning, But best practice to learning means Forums, Here you can expand your Knowledge, I preferred MOZ and Forums.

I learned SEO in the worst way possible.

I learned it through trial and error.

If I had to do it all over again, I would learn SEO through YouTube videos.

I would look up people like Brian Dean and, to a lesser degree, Neil Patel.

Now, I know Neil has a lot of critics on this forum, but he does have some gems.

So, I suggest that you start with Brian Dean and use Neil Patel to kind of fill in the gaps, but also use Neil's content to help you find deeper content.

Another suggestion I can give you — if you're looking for high-quality SEO tutorials — is to use free courses on Udemy.

I believe this forum lists some of their free courses from time to time.

The problem with Udemy is sometimes the free designation goes away so they're not always available for free.

My best piece of advice is to look for tutorials for SEO tools that are on YouTube.

For example, if you're looking for a content optimization tool, look for a tutorial on Frase.

You probably will learn more about content-based SEO in 5 minutes watching those videos than scouring through blog posts after blog posts of many other well-known resources available online.

Another tool that you can look into as a learning resource is SEMrush.

There are many SEMrush tutorials on YouTube.

Go ahead and check them out, and figure out how keyword research works.

By using this multi-pronged approach, you can piece together an easy-to-understand, basic working understanding of SEO which you can test through experience.

I can't emphasize this enough.

It's one thing to learn theory.

It's another to actually test it out.

And sadly, this means putting in the time and effort to build website after website until you come up with something that works.

It isn't easy, but it's definitely worth it.
