Ask me anything about Facebook Ads 2019

And you got 0 leads? What countries/Interests did you target? For a video production company with things like explainer videos targeting small business software like HubSpot or InfusionSoft would be good ideas if you haven't tried that already

Yes, we got 0 leads.

And we didn't target this small business software. is there anything else we should target

Hi Drought, my pixel helper always shows this warning "facebook pixel activated 2 times". Only at product pages in my woocommerce store. Is that normal to ignore that? I have been looking for the solution allday. Please help me.

What will be your advice for someone who want to generate leads for a MMO niche ??

Hello. How to get first clients for tuning there Ads for there buisness?

Hi there,

I'm curious about how you bill your clients - do you work on a retainer?

I also manage a fair bit of ad spend per month for clients within a digital media agency. I've found your answers really spot on so massive props to you for spreading your knowledge.

The reason I'm asking about how you bill your clients is because we book on a retainer and I've recently been targeted heavily from a lot by different social gurus with enticing youtube videos about a new "secret" business model and talking about how retainers are outdated etc. It's classic guru bullshit trying to sell me a lifestyle and holding out some big "secret" I don't doubt that some of them are very successful and on to something but I'm just not prepared to fork out for webinar or online course if I can't see explicit value or a syllabus up front.

Thanks!!

As an affiliate or for your own products?

is still possible to run skin/diet ads?

Yep - just can't promise any guaranteed results. Use copy like "How I lost 30 pounds in 20 days" rather than "How to lose 30 pounds in 20 days"

I guarantee they're pitching the 'high-ticket' model ie. bill $5-10k upfront THEN upsell a retainer or add-on services for more money. It works but personally I find it tacky and a bit predatory. I work on minimum retainer + % of ad spend and find it to be best for both my own interests and clients.

Onboarding flow for every client (regardless of niche/industry/business size):
1. Invoice (must be paid before proceeding)
2. Onboarding survey (current business position + goals)
3. Deep dive strategy call
4. Campaign roadmap + plan of attack
5. Implementation

While I don't mean any disrespect, but these are just phrases that doesn't really explain your process.

If your onboarding flow is part of your trade secret, I'll understand.

Otherwise, could you get into more details in your process?

E.g.
1. Invoicing - how do you bill them if you are charging them monthly? Do you use some form of recurring payment mode, or do you collect their CC details?

2. Onboarding survey - do you just email them a google form, or do you ask them over the phone?

3. strategy call - how do you get the client to take your call so many times?

I'm asking because from my experience, most of these business owner type people are always too busy and they expect you to run the show on your own.

Also, how do you get access to client's facebook ad account? Do you set it up for them, then add your ad ID?

Lastly, how do you coordinate all the account logins, art assets, logos, reports, surveys, to-do lists, landing pages, ad copies etc etc with the client?

Do you use something like Trello, or do you just dump everything into seperate Gdrive folders and email client the links?

Sorry if there's too many questions. I promise these will be the last of them.

Ask a generalized question, get a generalized answer. These are more like it ;)

1. Stripe Invoice at the start of every month for last month's fees. Must be paid within 7 days or there will be problems :)
2. Email a survey, then a phone call to dig deeper into their business/market
3. Because I'm going to make them potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Those clients are not ones you want to work with. If you want to grow, and charge higher rates, you need to come at it with the mindset that YOU are the expert, not them, and they will be lucky to work with you, not the other way around.

Most client's already have an ad account, which we request access to in our Business Manager, If not I send them documentation on how to create one.

There's no account logins to share, so not sure about that. We use a mix of Google Drive + Notion to manage each client's resources and deliverables.

Since i have never used FB ads before and i have a website about WordPress and stuff, i would like to reach more ppl with my hosting offer.

Does the niche affects the cost per click like on Gads?

How can I change the timezone of an ad account? (If I need to close it down, then how to do it? Tried deactivating and creating a new one, didn't work as I have the maximum of 5 already)

Hi Drought, i have another question, do our LAA auto update as i gain new data? Or i have to recreate custom audience and LAA as time go on
Thank you very much

Yes, some niches are going to be more competitive (and thus pricier) than others.

Go into your Business Settings and there should be an option.

Custom audiences and Lookalike Audiences automatically update and refresh every 24 hours :)

How can I run ads for a full Shopify catalogue at once?

Why would you want to do that?

Hi @Drought, stumbled across your episode in Side Hustle School and have been studying your content ever since.

I would just like to know how did you market yourself online or otherwise, to get your very first client?

Outreach to agencies or Facebook groups are easy ways to get your first client.

Sorry drought - can you elaborate what you mean by outreach to agencies? You picked up some contract work from agencies?

Cheers

Hi mate

I have a somewhat weird problem!

I had paused a campaign that was running for few days with a stable CPM on 3/5/2019.

I resumed the campaign today 9/5/2019 (after 6 days only) but for some unknown reason, the CPM increased by almost 75% and it's not returning back :(

The audience is the same and the CTR is the same as well but the CPM jumped and this led to a decrease in Relevance Score by 1 mark.

As a remark, during the pause period I ran other ad sets that had lower CPM and I have the campaign budget optimization option "On". However, I switched the other ad sets off before resuming the troubled one.

Did you face a problem like this before?
Do you think if I create a new ad set, it would solve the problem?
Do you think it's related to the campaign budget optimization option (even when I switched the others off) because other ad sets let to more clicks at a lower price?
Should I try adding a cost control?
Should I just give it more time to reoptimize?

Thanks in advance
Regards
