Ask me anything about Facebook Ads 2019

What kind of ads were you running?

Almost always BuzzFeed-style videos that are designed to be satisfying. I referenced the cooking/baking style videos in a previous post that Tasty/BuzzFeed do. Think things like this. The pain point resolution 'formula' is exaggerated by gurus. Made good content that people in the niche like and it will work itself out.

I ran ads into an advertorial-type LP that had a hyperlink to a clickbank product in it. First time I ran the ads, account immediately disabled. To my best knowledge the issue was that I had privacy policy missing and a pop up. Appealed, got account activated and changed those things. Tried to run ad again and immediately disabled.

Is there any way to for example delete an ad account or create a new one whilst I have a disabled one?

Hi! How do you manage clinets accounts? Did you have BM and just connect their ads accounts to it?

Hey, I've got two ad sets (with two different ads) going to the same landing page. Is there a way that I can create a custom audience that retargets each individual ad set (rather than a combination of the two)? Thanks

Did you try CPI ? And what are your tactics to get lowest cpc ?

Hi, thanks for your AMA. Here are the questions:

  1. I got 2 of my ad accounts disabled. I keep complaining like a women and asking them to specify what I did wrong but all I get is "You vioated our policy, this is a final decission" automated message in return. I started using 3rd one but I loose all the pixel data every time I loose an Ad account. What would you suggest I do? I've been advertising my watch business for years now and never did anything but that. I see similar ads all the time on FB.
  2. I've tried re-targeting but never had any succes. However, when I don't do retargeting but target warm or even cold audience I always get at least x6 ROI. Should I keep testing re-targeting campaigns or I stick with what brings in the money? Or I do both?
  3. When creating a new campaign, which factors do you test or would say are the most important to be tested? Hadlines, ad copy, images, age, interests...damn so much money to find a winner, plus it makes it even harder if you got an ecommerce site with 10s or even 100s of products. How do you approach this?
Thank you for your time. Feel free to skip any of those if they don't suit you. Cheers,

Jure.

You cannot delete ad accounts and most Business Managers can only create 1, especially if you have a disabled one. You're better off trying to appeal or buying a proxy here on BHW.

Most clients have their own Business Manager and just invite me to it.

Yes, use the UTM tracking feature to give each ad a separate UTM tag, then you can retarget based on the different tags.

I've ran a few CPI campaigns for clients, yes. Lowering CPCs require lots of testing of audiences, placements, and ad creative.

1. I've been getting this question a lot and I really can't tell you. I've never had any problems with getting banned or disabled.

2. What are you retargeting? If you are getting a 6x ROI from cold traffic that would be at least a 10x ROI from retargeting. You should be targeting abandoned carts and product page viewers in a short time frame (1-14 days)

3. The audience is the most important, followed by the ad format (ie. carousel vs video vs single image). The ad copy/headlines actually matter very little. For eCommerce stores that have lots of products they generally have sales dtaa that will tell us what their best sellers are, so we start with those.

Title says everything ;)

I currently manage $50,000/month in ad spend for a variety of clients. Mostly eCommerce and lead gen for blogs and service providers. Happy to help however I can :)

I would need more info on your site and niche. Your main goal should be doing lead gen to build an email list over time.

In my opinion now it is better to do advertising in instagram. Is not it so?

It depends on the industry/product. For eCommerce Instagram is almost always the better performer.

Thank you so much for the answers so far, it is really helpful.
Last question:
When an ad account in business manager is disabled, can I still do ads on personal ad account or request access to clients ad accounts and do them there?

Yes to both, as long as the ad account in the BM wasn't your personal one you transferred in.

My site is techvenge dot net and my I blog in the tech niche.

What kind of ROI are your eCommerce clients seeing?

How does the payment threshold works ?
It was 50$ for me and after many Successful payments I wasn't able to make it larger, Then by fault I set it to 9$ and I can't set it to 50$ again ! Do u have any solution or explaining?

Thanks @Drought for this thread.

1) what's your best strategy to run real estate leads campaign?

2) what's the benchmark for cost per lead for real estate lead generation.

3) Is it risky if I import a list of users emails (not UID or Facebook.com emails but Gmail, outlook, yahoo etc) to form custom audiences? The list was scraped somewhere else or purchased from someone else.

4) How do you get an image with 70% texts in it being approved by Facebook? It's not a product image. I have literally seen ads like a poster for door locks with written description, features, price etc documented in text that cover almost 70% of the image. On the other hand, I tried my own image with just 40% and Facebook rejected it.

5) Do images with text regardless of exceeding 20% rule or not really does have an affect on audience reach?

Thanks and really appreciate your answers to my couple of questions. Cheers!

Thanks for this OP,
I have been longing to solve a few of my queries and sadly I don't know many people personally in this world.
Hope you can help me with my ordeal below.
I set up an ad and FB declined it by saying my landing page has more ads than content.
I removed all the ads from the landing page ( a blog post) still FB declined it.
My domain or ad account is not banned ( yet).
What is wrong??

My domain is a general news site ( top 10s, 15s etc) niche with 100% unique content, unique cover image.

ppe or ppc for viral article monetized with Adsense and native ads?
any tricks to make facebook CPC a bit lower?

wow $50,000, do FB ads work. If we have amazon customers are you able to run ads for us?

How to promote make money online / business opportunities without getting banned?

My site is techvenge dot net and my I blog in the tech niche.

My strategy would be:
1. Find a piece of content that did really well for you already (getting lots of traffic, shares, etc.)
2. Create a Facebook engagement campaign with that content
3. Outfit your website with lead magnets/opt in forms to build your list

You can monetize your list very easily later for the tech niche.

What kind of ROI are your eCommerce clients seeing?

I just wrote a case study on a client that did $18,000 revenue at 677% ROI... for established businesses a 300% ROI is fairly standard.

Payment threshold is just when you get billed. So when you hit $50 it'll charge your payment method. It shouldn't affect anything else.

1. Target local zip codes with Interests related to real estate/home buying (Zillow, Trulia, etc.)

2. Depends on the area. $2-$7 would be ideal while still maintaining lead quality

3. No, this is standard procedure for making Custom/Lookalike audiences.

4. I don't know how to get around it using image. But a little hack you can do is create a slideshow video (Facebook's built in tools can do it) of just the image with 70% text. It will be approved since it's technically a video but is just a still image

5. Yes it does. Facebook doesn't like them. All of the ads I run never have any text.

PM me a link to the page and I can take a look. I've never encountered this problem before.

PPE. Traffic/PPC campaigns are not good at all. To get lower CPCs improve your clickthrough rates and engagement. This means having super engaging content (clickbait works well too) that a high % of people engage or click on.

Yes I work with Amazon clients. You can PM me if interested.

How to promote make money online / business opportunities without getting banned?

Run traffic to squeeze pages, not directly to offers. Also don't make specific claims to income (ie. make $10,000 in 1 month!) in your ad or landing page copy.
