But you mean to tell me somebody is willing to Drop $500 on eBay without checking Amazon first?

In some niches, price isn't an object because they're willing to pay more to buy from merchants they can trust. For example in some of my items, I'm the only one selling similar items made in US. The chinese can not compete on everything except price because they sell at 3 week ship time, and I can ship within 48 hours.

In my experience it's the $20 item that attracts the idiots who'll cause problems than $500 items in the same category.

How do you deal with people who order a lot and return everything? It seems like a huge hurdle if you're just starting out.

You can set buyer requirements to limit the amount of stuff that people can buy from you. You can also specify other requirements also. These filters should be enough to filter bad people if they have been at it before.

You can also block up to 1000 buyers from buying from you if they've messed you around before.
 
So, anyone use Inkfrog? If so, please explain why, and how it helps you achieve more sales? I'm considering signing up.

Or if you use any other paid services.

You just refund and move on. At least now they're changing to a system where a return can not damage your account.

Inkfrog is buggy as hell, and some of those bugs can fatally compromise your stealth account, so I wouldn't recommend it if you know what you are selling is going to be a problem. It's probably worth $15/mo but you will want something better when you scale up.
 
Has anybody here tricked around with paid (non free) shipping.

I'm wondering could you charge shipping and reduce your items sale price. The net price would still be the same but could boost your items placement in search.

Once i'm ready i'm going to experiment with this.

There is a method doing the rounds on BHW about starting an eComm store and selling items for $0 and charging $6.95 or so for shipping.

Same principle really.

I just spotted this - it says that if you buy something and the price drops within 7 days, they will refund you the difference. Nice!

I wonder could I monitor all my orders for 7 days from date of transaction and monitor for price drops, then just re-coup the difference from Amazon for extra profit. I'm sure they wouldn't be long catching on and getting pissed at you though, anybody care to try? :)

Is it possible to utilize the traffic of ebay, but then add your buyers to an email list after their purchase that you can sell to them outside of ebay through your own site, or promote affiliate offers to? So build your own list by piggy backing the traffic of ebay and amazon?

Thanks for the great info on this thread, I've learned alot.

I've been dropshipping the last couple of months and it has been going well, but amazon have started closing prime accounts in the last couple of weeks.
Do you use 2-day shipping or standard? I'm afraid the 2-day thing is triggering them. Might also be the gift, which I have stopped now after reading the thread, hope that helps.

EDIT: Had Two more questions in mind:

Do you delete the buyers addresses on amazon after the item is shipped?
How do you automate the tracking upload? Just scrap the amazon order page or something else?

Thank you for this thread, I have gotten a great deal of value from it. I am just starting out, and have a limit of 10 listings right now. How long should I wait after having posted all 10 listings with no sales to change something? Right now no sales yet, so perhaps I made my prices too high or picked bad items? Thanks!
 
I started listing products over the weekend, 19 in total.

I've sold 2 items so far. Funnily enough, it's the same item that sold twice.

I searched for it on eBay and turns i'm the cheapest buy a significant amount.

I think I will try and work that into my strategy soon.It looks like everybody is looking for a large enough margin. Once I get my ebay and PayPal accounts configured I should be able to undercut most Dropshippers.

Edit :: How are people handling putting the tracking number in PayPal when it's Amazon Logistics? I just put one in under other and said the Carrier was "Logistics" is this bad?

I wonder should I just not include the tracking number? Otherwise I may build a custom tracking website and copy the information from Amazon into my own website. I can call it "Password Logistics or something..."

What do people think?

Still looking at different price tracking software, but need to sort it soon.
I dont have any holds on Paypal thankfully, so just transfer money direct to my bank account when needed.
Keep me informed of your software , sounds interesting.
 
Ah lucky you.. I never really had any restrictions on my PayPal but any time I sell on eBay they hold for 21 days :/

I will do.. right not i'm tweaking and testing but i'll keep you posted.

Contact Ebay and ask why there is a 21 day hold, they might get rid of it, seems unfair to me.
 
Yea worth a try.

Is it eBay who control the hold, even though it's on PayPal?
