I've been trying to do SEO for micro niche sites for awhile now and I have a question about ranking and PBN.
You mentioned that you do "grey hat" SEO and I fit into that category, I've bought some links from some people
but I haven't noticed them impacting very well. Do you have any recommendations on who I could go to for buying some PBN
posts?
I don't have a massive budget, but I am running 8 micro niche sites from scratch and I'm scared of wasting
several hundred USD with nothing to show for it. They're also really easy to rank, supposedly. In fact, the
first two I started are ranking decently, I just think they need a bit of a nudge.
Also, when I buy PBN, do I just point it right at my blog and it does it's magic or is it more complicated and
I have to build some random 2.0 and point it at the 2.0 that points to my blog? I keep reading about
needing a buffer.
I mention that I'm 'gray hat' as I believe that best fits the definition of what I do, I also believe 90% of search marketers are gray hats. BUT I also believe that the 'hats' and what's considered what color isn't very efficient as there's plenty of gray hats that use tactics I don't think are safe/effective and there's some that don't use tactics that I use for the same reason.
A better way to say it is that I do what works. I'm a growth hacker, I grow businesses and brands in the most efficient way possible using both my technical and creative skill sets. Hm, looks like I went on a wee bit of a rant. I digress.
There's buying links and then there's buying quality links. When you buy PBN links (no offense to you sellers) they're less effective than a PBN made custom for you. As soon as those networks links are being sold it's a public network. I can't speak to the services that you bought but:
- Not all link buys will have you zooming up to page 1
- Not all link buys are worth what they seem (Keep in mind that to Google, metrics don't mean shit. TF 100 vs TF 0? Google doesn't care)
For recommendations, I would suggest finding a provider who only sells links to your niche (relevancy) and who does a low volume of sales (yet high-quality product). As volume goes up, quality goes down. That's evident across 99.9% of businesses.
Ideally, you'd have your own network. Either paid someone to make it, or made it yourself. Sometimes it just takes 1-2 domains to hit first page. Also, don't make a PBN. Make a real website that has value and that also just happens to link to your money website. It's not hard to determine if a website is fake or not.
When it comes to low comp, I mentioned this yesterday, often times you just need enough content and some basic links such as a YT video and maybe couple web 2.0's. Just evaluate possible spending with possible income. If ranking #10 you can estimate based on CTR and conversion (using averages until you have your own data) you'll make $20/week then maybe try link building yourself until you're #3 where you may be making $200/week. Was that clear enough? I can elaborate if needed.
When you buy a link, the link will 'do its magic' (ie link juice) but what you're reading about is tiered link building. The link you just got from a PBN (tier 1) is boosting your website because it's a link to you. So, links to your PBN link (tier 2) would boost that PBN's value, which would make the value given to your website increase.
There are services which do tiered link building for you but there's also tools. I've personallly been using Money Robot for the past couple weeks, not sure if it's worth the lifetime license I bought.
Interesting. Great to know what the competition is up to
In that regard OP, have ever "spied" on competitors?
I've found it's an awesome way to learn strategy and you can further apply it to your projects, EVEN if they are on a different industry!
Though, I'd like to know your opinion.
Competition of my clients? Of course.
Competition as in other SEOs? Yep.
But competition is a little hard to define with SEO (in my opinion) as I'm competing against local and national freelancers and agencies. Not to mention niche specific freelancers and agencies. I consider all client SEOs to be my competition as I get hired due to my ability to rank, so if some SEO in the world knows about a tactic I don't, I'm behind.
That being said, I do keep a decent eye on 2 local competitors. My goal by the end of the year is to outrank both of them for everything. Just for fun, will probably sell the leads I get to them for lemon juice on the burn.
I also consider more than just SEOs as my competition. I'm an SEO, a digital marketer, a god damn growth hacker. So I keep up with what Neil Patel is saying, what's on BHW, what copy blogger has to say, how about Gary Vee, Noah Kegan, etc. To my clients, I'm a whale in a puddle. No one but those at the level of the aforementioned people stand a chance at doing what I'm able to do. Carry a bit of an ego and people seem to think you're a genius when you're really just a bit of an asshole.
From where did you get your backlinks mate.
A bit vague friend.
There's link buying, link building, link acquisition, content marketing, etc.
Be a little more speicifc and I can too.
Cheers all. Keep in mind that this was originaly about Client SEO and we've seem to have gotten off topic. I have no issue with answering questions but I want to make sure those who read this looking for client advise actually find it.
