Hey guys,

It's time for me to give something back to this amazing community.

So, what's the deal?

In the past 3 years, I finished, "SEO that works (Brian Dean)", "PR that converts (Dmitry Dragilev)" and a few other online courses in the same rank.

You probably heard about them because they are leaders in the industry with no BS stories but straight to the point and extremely useful information for rankings.

I spent a lot of time and money on testing it.

But I learned so many great things and got a lot of confidence to fight against big companies, magazines and all other authority websites out there.

And if you have the right tools in your hands and knowldges it's not that hard.

Now, I want to help you, so you can do all I did and make something amazing for your site and your business.

I will also write here, in this thread, short tutorials on how to optimize/write your content, Onpage, keywords, how to get amazing links absolutely free of charge and many more.

This will be for everyone but mostly for members with a real website and real business (not churn and burn websites).

I hope you will all enjoy.

So, let's get started :)

Sounds amazing!

Could I ask for info about the best ways to structure your site?

I like the reverse Silo strategy from Gotch but would love to know your thoughts on this!

Thanks for the help!

Depend, what's your site niche? In general, it should be different for a blog, e-commerce, magazine etc

Please post your niche here and I will try to answer more accurate.

And i assume you are talking about this;

How can I find the best keywords for my page & articles?

First, you probably notice that people searching for keywords totally wrong, using the latest and finest keyword research tool, adding a few words inside the tools and choose something according to search volume mostly.

I'm fine with that, but here we can do a lot more.

First, let me tell you about elementary keyword terms;

1. High Terms keywords
2. Medium Tail Keywords
3. Long-Tail Keywords

So, high terms keywords are mostly keywords with 2 words and they are highly competitive, like, "weight loss", "dog training", "internet marketing" etc.
Long-tail keywords are; "Dog training for all small breeds " or "Internet Marketing for a Photography business" "Best protein powder for weight loss"

What you need actually is a winner from those two and that's a medium tail keyword.

Why?

High term keywords are extremely competitive, as we mentioned and chasing that keywords will take years of effort, time and money.

Long-tail keywords are keywords with low search volume and easy to rank but you need a lot of them to gain some decent traffic and money.
5-20 Long-tail keywords are equal to one high volume term keyword.
Sounds like a good strategy but after Google released Panda update it's not anymore.

I'll give you an example.

I was researching big sites, huge blogs, magazines back in Panda releasing time.
I noticed that they had so many similar titles for all niches and topics but all of them were running around a medium tail keyword.

The thing was, lots of the titles were about, almost, the same exact topic.

For example: “10 healthy snacks for pregnancy” and “3 meals for a healthy pregnant woman”, almost on the same page.

And as you might guess content was pretty much the same with some twists.

After years of seeing sites like those Google released Panda update, and at that time all big names in the SEO industry started writing about the traffic drops for 50% or even more for those sites.

After Google noticed that sites with so many long-tail keywords and pretty much same and useless content they released Hummingbird update algorithm and basically made long-tail keywords obsolete.

And thanks to Hummingbird, Google can now understand the intent behind a keyword.
Website context over over-optimized content (more about that later).

For example, before Hummingbird, Google would look at two long-tail keywords like “retro video game consoles” and “old video game systems” as completely different.

Today, Google considers them one and the same.

So, a strategy like, find a decent amount of search volume, write 1000 words, publish and pray simple doesn't work anymore.

This is a huge topic and I will write a short guide this week on how to;

1. Find people they are ready to link to your article or so-called Linkreators
2. How to find a proven topic - medium tail keyword
3. How to start writing around that topic and gain some amazing links

Stay tuned :)

Were those courses any good?

No doubt :)

How long to get a brand new website ranking? .. In Google

It depends on many things like Onpage optimization, content on your website, links but I will write more about that next week.

In general if all good you can start seeing some decent ranking in the first 6-8 months. If not you will just struggle and asking yourself many things like sandboxing, Google dancing etc.

Guys, I will answer your all questions but as you can see I can give 1 in-depth answer per day, sometimes it will take 2-3 days due to other duties, so please be patient and you will have amazing ranking machine very soon.

I often choose longtail keywords like this:
1. Choose the keyword with more than 3 words. Example: best foods for boxer...
2. Google search: allintile:"best foods for boxer"
3. If volume/allintile >= 4 then i will choose this kw. Example: 20/4 =5 > 4

Is my method wrong?

So, a strategy like, find a decent amount of search volume, write 1000 words, publish and pray simple doesn't work anymore.

Hi. One question here.

What happen if I have a blogger blog with name (for example) "abcd.blogspot.com", and I decide to buy my own domain name, but I find a good domain name that is (for example) "ypmz.com".

In terms of positioning how this can affect the blogs?

How does Google react when something like this happens?

If the domain name is good, can this affect the blogs in a positive way?

Hope that you can guide me with this.

Thanks in advance for your time to answer this kind of questions.

Hey guys,

I'm so sorry for my late response but I was super busy with some startups.

I saw some questions in this thread and other threads here in BHW and I noticed that people are still confused with the things from the old and new world of SEO.

So, it will be best to start from the very beginning and explain why the old world of SEO doesn't work anymore, at least for the long term and real businesses.

Again, this doesn't apply for "churn and burn" sites and strategies and in this thread, I will not write about that.

So, what's the deal.

1. Regularly updated site with fresh, "quality content" - is the mistake number one, and I'll explain

- Since 2009, when I launch my first blog I followed a lot of SEO experts and their advice on how to get my keywords ranked, even in the hardest industry.

Some of the advice's worked some of them not but in general, it was all connected with one thing "Keep your blog updated on a regular base (weekly, if possible daily) with fresh content and just watch your rankings going up" all together with backlinks because the content will be shared.

And I did that.

I spent 6 months on my first blog, 4 months on my second blog, adding fresh content on a weekly base and sometimes on a daily base also, and all I got was a few visitors per day.

I thought I chose keywords from the tough dealing industry so I tried with something else and I found less competitive keywords.

Results?

Actually it was the same.

And I didn't do any content promotion, no backlinks also, because I wanted to see if regular posting will make any SERP impact, plus all recommendation from "SEO experts" was based on regularly adding fresh content.

The result of these experiments?

“Fresh content” and regular updates makes ZERO difference in your rankings. Nada!

I saw here many people asking; "I added 100 fresh articles, why I don't see any traffic"?

What you need to do is to write only the best content and keep that content updated, at least once a year.

Technically speaking that's 5.000 - 10.000 words content, sometimes, even more, evergreen content, which will include medium tail keyword

Why?

Because there's only 10 spots on the first page and only 3 spots for the best and if you want to see your keywords ranked you must do your best, and that's what I called that content "Rocket Content".

Rocket content is highly shareable and brings links (more about that later).

2. Now, the second big mistake is connected with wrong keyword research and you can find in the post above #12 in this thread.

3. And the final mistake I will write about today, is; Not proactively link building

- So, if you just publish your content and wait to be seen and shared, you are in a big mistake.

Backlinks are playing a huge role, if not the main one, in the SEO industry.

Some stats before we continue;

- Each month, 70 million new posts appear on WordPress blogs alone
- 2 and more million posts are published each day
- 661 WordPress sites also pop up daily
- Over 400 million people visit WordPress sites each month
- The average blog post contains 1150 words

So, do you really think that you can rank and bank using old tactics?

I doubt.

First, you need to create content designed specifically to generate links and shares.

This is key.

Content specifically engineered to get backlinks and social shares.

After that, you'll need strategies to promote that content but if you don't have amazing content no one will share.

More about that in one of coming posts.

I often choose longtail keywords like this:
1. Choose the keyword with more than 3 words. Example: best foods for boxer...
2. Google search: allintile:"best foods for boxer"
3. If volume/allintile >= 4 then i will choose this kw. Example: 20/4 =5 > 4

Is my method wrong?

If you ask me, the best strategy is not long-tail keywords targeting but medium tail keywords.
Please just read again post #12.

In general, you should add long-tail keywords inside your blog posts. I will write about that later in this thread.

Do the social signals need to be indexed to provide value?

What about the private accounts(social signals)? How Google sees the social signals from private accounts?

How many social signals are enough for new posts to justify the baklinking?

Don't use social signals for link building purpose, you won't get any rankings. Use socials for traffic and traffic mean sales if you providing value.

Who has the best services for SEO?

One who works honestly and with high dedication.

What is the strategy around a PR that converts?
How do you create news worthy content?
How to make sure it gets picked up?

Any particular PR site? Is paid PR worth?

The main PR that converts strategy is based on making contacts with journalists, influencers, big magazines. How to pitch, how to email, how to follow-up and be their "friend".
On other questions, I will answer you in one of my next posts because it requires more time and dedication.
