AI Article Penalty Speed Run Case study 4000 posts

Yeah at that scale on your own its not possible to fact-check everything, you know what dude, its not too bad, you can run this at lower scale and fact check everything, editing and etc, it works well. I did this with one of my sites worked out very well, those articles even get comments on how helpful it was.
Yes, running it at a slower scale would reduce this. However if you are trying to get the easiest ranks you do need to cast a net, because keyword difficulties, etc don't actually predict in my experience, the articles that are actually gonna rank the fastest. Website used to have less than 300 human articles, now it has 10 k, but its traffic is still not truly higher than its all time high with just human. That is just to show you how little of the 10k are actually ranking enough to bring in the traffic that doubled the site vs last month. On the other hand, is it worth it when user signals and reports might stunt the site?
I think this is super interesting, even if people email you, you can just improve the specific article and live on right?
Yes, its true you can just improve the article, that is what I've been doing but I do wonder about the bigger effect of having so much "useless" content on the site as some people put it in emails. It is useless because it is shallow and in some I've read it really doesn't give any information, its just like a student writing for word count but not wanting to talk about the actual question. This doesn't mean all articles are like that, the more common a topic is, I find the AI is way more knowledgeable on what to write.

I expected some articles wouldn't be good, but jeez, I didn't expect how mad some people would be over an article not being useful or having slightly bad takes on a topic.

Since publishing 10 k articles I've gotten 6 angry emails from readers basically saying my content is shit.
For some niches OpenAI generates very weak content.
I find it hard to see how these people ran into these articles if they are on page 3
Maybe they got there directly from your website, perhaps through interlinking or checking new posts.

True, some niche its weak, and even worse when the topics are long-tail subjective.

I considered interlinking might have brought them there, but the emails made it clear to me that they were seeking content on a topic, so I found my post and got mad. A few of the emailers are people you can actually google and are real experts on the thing in the post and are mad at the misinformation or useless post. With the way how my site is I don't think they got there by interlinking, its likely they were searching out articles in their sub-niche, saw a new article and then got mad it was crap. The thing is, search console nor even bing shows some of these articles getting clicks. Though it is possible that bing chat quoted me which led them there, my bing traffic has been rising and rising.
I don't work social media or keep following for this website at all, so I can't really say id expect long-time readers to be there to have gotten mad.

For now I'm just gonna keep updating the highest winning articles, and any articles that I get hate mail over, because id assume if the article is so bad it has people taking the time to send me thousand-word emails LOL then leaving it up like that won't do well for me.

Did you get back to those emailers letting them know you've updated it and if they can give you their opinion?

Did you get back to those emailers letting them know you've updated it and if they can give you their opinion?
Only one of them.
The rest were way ruder and I could not see any purpose in letting them know a single article out of thousands is now not shit (Not saying all the AI articles are shit, its just obviously many fall through the cracks, id estimate based on my spot-checking that around 1k of the 10 k are probably shit by my own standard).

Keep in mind since I am in the niche, I know many of the answers and can do my own research when writing, so I do not need or care for
their approval on articles I hand-wrote because ill stand by my decisions if it's my own words and I know I researched well.
My handwritten articles always link out to the resources I got information from as well so they can go fight those people if they care that much (usually gov and edu links).

If this website was my main id probably email them back since id be trying to keep good relations for if I'm putting out a product etc.

I also don't want to go around saying, "oh, sorry bro, the AI wrote that shit"

I only responded to one guy because his email, while mad, was filled with links, evidence, resources etc. Long story short he basically was reasonably respectful compared to the rest and took a lot of time to bash the article so I figured id let him know it was updated and ask for opinions.

Do you think I should go around and email them all? even the ones who basically hit me with the (your article on xyz is awful, you are stupid, your website is useless, you need to delete your article) but with more colorful language?

Not all, but some that are polite might help at some point. It is good to be in good terms with knowledgeable ppl in your niche. It might even get you a link or two here and there.

This is an experiment after all and I wouldn't email those trolls back. If more people kept emailing me I might update the articles. I would just wait and see what happens and you can update other articles as you go. Over time various things will be happening with that site.

I am adding a ton of AI content to some of my older websites and seeing what happens. Most of my content is being added on a daily and weekly basis. Not 10k articles all at once. Should be interesting either way. Worse case scenario you can delete old crappy articles or update existing articles.

So, im gonna try to keep this short, I just feel bad for not really updating the past few days but its not like I have good news.
- The google update slapped the site
-my old human written content all started dropping...... yes, the human content...........not the AI content..... (new ai content that was updated to human is doing fine)
-compared to last week the entire site is down 17%, but every single day since the update is down 30% so by next week if I don't get a pick up it is likely the whole site will show down 30%
- Content from the old site (human) is down 50% (makes up the majority of my traffic loss
-AI content is down 5%....................... literally was barely affected by the update, google dead ass loves the AI content than the human content................. like.......... how?
-site #2 is still not on adsense, still barely anything changed on this.
-my main sites, while not related to this case study at all I'm just gonna mention that they are not affected at all by the update. One site got a 10% increase...... for whatever that is worth.
-still snippet banned...... taking Ls all week. first week I didnt have positive growth

This is true, for right now since I'm treating the site as a test for me to throw stuff at, I might not be taking it this too serious
I'd email them all. Your haters can become your biggest fans if you make them feel heard. Having them find your crap content so you can rewrite it saves you the time of looking for it yourself.
I can see your point, I've never personally had this happen though, but I can relate to the idea of how I personally feel when I feel heard.

How has it been going so far? and how have the update treated you?
Did you also made post thumbnail? or it was just text
just text
interesting
Thanks for reading

How do you know you are snippet banned?

I have updated ever article I've been emailed on (you would be surprised how passionate people are about the shit on your site when it deals with something they are an expert on).

Like jeez, all these emails start of with the person being like "no disrespect but"
and by the end they are like "please delete your shit article or update it"
Low key rudest emails I've ever gotten lmao, but I'm not gonna go into detail about the things said to me that were rude, you can imagine it.

One email was 1200 words of the "expert " (I looked the person up and they are real etc) ranting and debunking everything said in the AI article.

Which obviously doesn't feel that good to read but for the sake of updating the article and just running the website I read it.

One of the emailers has said (it is as if you wrote this with chat gpt). (I'm sure the dude knows and its throwing shade)
Wow, this is quite shocking to know that people care so much about what's written on a random website on the internet that they go to the extent of explaining everything, cursing, and then sending angry emails. Honestly, some people are just so weird, it blows my mind.

it is crazy, as I sad before too, Ive never really had this. I want to say it is because the site has more reach but tbh, its traffic and impressions are still no where near bigger sites I've had and even those sites never really got random hate mail. I think it is one of those things where you can say people can tell something doesn't have a human touch when reading, but even then, usually if I find a website not answering what I am looking for I just bounce.

So, I have decided (stupid or not I'm gonna attempt it)
To basically create a financial part of this website.
I know I know, I said I would create and finance niche website from scratch, and I AM!
but
in light of how relatively successful this website is being and my impatience to wait on my new site to finally start ........... doing something

I figure since the niche is so giant I can actually put articles on this site aswell and just never target the same things. The 2 sites can start from 2 different ends of personal finance, and since I still keep all the keyword data in the end, even if ymyl burns this site or something im still gonna have all the articles or at least all the keyword reasearch.

I am also going to put this website back on an ad network. Ive cleaned up a lot of articles and at the speed im cleaning, I think I can manage some basic quality.

The only thing to keep in mind is that I still cant say the google update has done all it will to me so if the traffic continues to die or something then im gonna slow down the operation because sinking money in a sinking ship with too much holes to patch isnt that appealing to me.

I did more data look into on the website and the deeper I go, it is just more (google hit my human content but my ai content is barely touched...................... what kinda mad world are we in)

Some categories on the site got massive hits, others actually gained traffic.

I am calling on you guys to message me any "general" websites with great site structure if you have anything I can look at for inspiration on how to divide up this site into very broad. I have my own ideas but honestly, I still dont like my site structures even after years to tweeking them. Given, its rare for me to like a site structure, even wikipedia is aweful in my opinion from a user trying to internally navigate.

Please dm me if you have anything just so we dont crowd this post up with website links lol.

I know a lot of stuff is already going on with this website but It is the only one I have right now that im willing to test stuff on.

Very interesting stuff @Jaordas !

Few questions if you got time to answer?
1. Did you use single prompt for all articles?
2. How did you get and clustered the keywords used?
3. How is those 4000 posts structured inside your site linking wise? Are many of the posts far away from homepage (4-5+ clicks?)?

Great to see someone doing testing like this, have been thinking about going overboard with some of my sites.

Did you have custom tool to automate all this or how did you manage to publish all those? I'm thinking about developing site automator which would help with this.
