Hello all,

I'm currently hosting around 28 websites (including domains & databases) on my Godaddy shared account.

I'm using the "Ultimate Windows Hosting with Plesk" plan. Everything is so slow especially with Plesk. I have decided to migrate all the websites to a new host and keep the domains where they are.

However, since there are a lot of websites, i would like to know what would be the best practice to transfer them to A2hosting shared account "Turbo plan", should i use SSH in Godaddy, compress everything in one zip and download it from A2hosting SSH?

Or Is there another way to export files from plesk directly to cpanel of A2hosting. Or should i transfer one website at a time?

Knowing that, my subscription will end near the end of this month, so i need a fast efficient way to do it. So, if anybody have any suggestions on this subject, i am all ears for your wise advice.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read this.

I think A2 hosting offers free migration

I'm aware that A2hosting like other web hosts offer free migration for a website. But we're speaking about dozens? Is that something they can do? Considering that my subscription plan in godaddy will end up near the end of the month.

Are they fast with their migration?

didn't you just ask the same thing on WHT.

Most web host now days offer free site Migration.

Now if you used the godaddy website builder then that is a different process and no regular web host is going to rebuild your site. If that is the case you will need to hire someone to do it for you.

No i haven't used website builders, just regular wordpress and php sites. I'm just concerned about the volume. From what i heard Plesk has a migration extension but i don't have any, so i'm curious how will A2hosting or any other host pull this off !

If it were me I would zip all of the sites up via ssh. Export the sql databases, make a spreadsheet with all details - domain, logins, sql user, sql pass, etc.

recreate domains on A2 hosting, then upload files and import databases one by one. Then update Wordpress config files to reflect new database names.

then on your windows pc, update hosts file to point sites to the a2 IP address so you can fully test everything.

once you’re happy it’s all working, update name servers accordingly.

boom - all transferred, zero downtime.

ps - good call on moving from godaddy to a2 - godaddy are crap and a2 are amazing!

next step would definitely be to move your domains somewhere else as well because godaddy are extortionate. Move them somewhere other than a2 though, because it’s great practice to have your domains and hosting separated for redundancy.

@kurosaki4d did you manage to get this done? If not, drop me a PM and I will help you do it (for free of course).
