I own an online clothing store, but I want to make more sales. I figure I could use some of the techniques on this site to drive more traffic to my product.

I'm having trouble getting very good results though and was wondering what everyone thinks is the best way to advertise your own product?

Try using google adwords to drive organic traffic to your website. That might cost you a ton but it's still worth to get that starting advertisement for your site.

I have some free credits from my webhost so I will use those, but I want to try and implement other techniques in addition to the normal (and costly) way of getting traffic.

give a bit of info about your shirts. Use Google bing and Facebook to start, but by targeting the right keywords you can get a ton more customers.

Mainly stuff for kids. How do I know what to target? Should I be researching keywords and putting those on my site?

List your products on google product or google store (I don't remember the name, I never used it). I heard some good things about this...

Looks like it could help, thank you. I will look into it.

Contact other up and coming designers to advertise their products on your store. Go to niche specific forums and help a new guy get a deal.

Allow people to design and customize their own products at your store

Sometimes people want what you're selling, but only slightly different, and that difference can prevent sales from coming in

Very good ideas, thank you.

Hi Mate Advertise at You Tube for promotion.

Indeed, I will.

At the current level of knowdlege you have you should really outsource the job to someone.

At my current level of knowledge, I don't know what jobs you are referring to and who I should outsource to?

Launch an affiliate program, post it on forums and see if anyone is interested. Get all the marketing done for you.

For your store not every advertising will be successful.

I would recommend Facebook and Pinterest, you can do YouTube and Tumblr on the side, but I would focus most of it on Facebook and Pinterest.

Hope I helped.

I thought about that, but I have yet to do any extensive research on how to run such a program. I assume there has to be software available that will allow account creation/affiliate tracking links?

Thoughts?

Try Google Adwords or Bing and drive paid premium traffic.

I've been experimenting with Pinterest. I have yet to do much, but already I see its potential. As far as Facebook goes, I have not had much luck... any tips?

Facebook is good for entertainment niche, and your store is a clothing one, try making a targeted campaign with interests, age groups, location and test, otherwise hire some one for that.
