Hey,

i have got some questions to clarify:

-Are .tv domains more valuable than .edu and .gov?
i saw a .tv domain with pagerank 2 three days back. And today its PageRank 9
Really, am not lying or am not wrong. Am hundred percent sure about this.

-Is it easy to get pagerank in .tv domain?

-Also if i get lots of backlinks, say 50000 . Will it raise my pagerank within a week?

-And one more thing is i want to bring my site on page 1 for a specific keyword "xxxxx xxxxx xxxxxxx" just an example. But the domain is bought just yesterday and the site is built just today. is it possible?

I can answer your first point at least:

.tv domains aren't as valuable as EDU or GOV by a long shot, its just a country domain like .uk or .us...I think its from Tuvalu or some such place. Because EDU can only be registered by Universities and GOV by government agencies, they are considered to be more trustworthy.

Therefore I reckon it is only as easy to rank a TV domain as any other country coded one.

I don't know about your last two points, I think they would have to be really good links to get you PR that fast, I'm not even sure if PR is calculated that fast. No doubt someone smarter than me will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

i heard that .tv domains state to media websites that have videos. confirm me if i am correct. and i am sorry regarding the PR. there is some bug in my Firefox PR Toolbar :p i am really sorry regarding it. Please clarify my other doubts

According to the Wiki

The domain is currently operated by dotTV, a Verisign company; the Tuvalu government owns twenty percent of the company. In 2000, Tuvalu negotiated a contract leasing its Internet domain name ".tv" for $50 million in royalties over a 12-year period.[1] The Tuvalu government receives a quarterly payment of US$1 million for use of the top-level domain.

On December 14, 2006, VeriSign announced an alliance with Demand Media, run by ex-MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt to market the .tv top level domain name (TLD) as the preferred Web address for rich media content.

But I think its just that, a MARKETING campaign, I doubt it holds any added weight with google or if ICAAN have made it any different to any other cTLD. At least I can't find any substantial evidence if they have.

Still can't help you with your PR conundrum, that will take a better man than me hehe ;)

I can only tell you that the formula for increasing PR, is based on amount of backlinks and/or what kind of PR the backlinks have..

My experience has shown me that .TV domains are harder to get good rankings for.

Stick to .COM (first choice) and
.ORG (second choice)

Don't focus too much on PageRank.

Great PageRank does not equal great rankings.

Even great rankings are not the goal unto itself...you need to rank for the right keywords that will generate you $$$$$$$$$$$$

.tv is technically the TLD of tuvalu, small pacific island nation
.tv was sold to some company to market domains to television specific names

in general, my personal data has shown that:

.com / .edu / .gov / .mil gives a big bonus to a site
.co.uk / .ca / .fr / .de (country specific TLDs) give a big bonus to a site for searches in their respective countries
.net / .org give a mid sized bonus to a site (some would argue almost the same as .com)
.tv / .info / .co / .mobi / .biz give no bonus to a site

a site can be .tv and still do well if it gets popular (ie justin.tv), however most of the data I've seen shows that in general that's not because of any help from the .tv domain....
