The basic structure of internet marketing have been built by gurus on bullshit and "how to become billionaire overnight" because it sells. Nobody is ready to wait and want to see immediate results. Snake oil salesmen don't do any good either.

The AI handles what used to be Penguin updates now, and on a constant basis rather than a periodic. Google's AI now handles all tasks that used to be updated "manually" via Penguin. Also, Panda is now "baked in" to the algorithm... so there will probably be no updates called "Panda" either. Though Panda-like changes may occur when they update the core algo, since it is now part of the core algo. I'd also guess the the AI can make adjustments to on-site calculations as well, not just link based. Google has spend billions trying to automate as much as possible.
