It's a fact that ranking on the first page in SERPs does not guarantee traffic anymore.

While everyone is focusing on getting their sites cited in AI Overview, and you can actually get cited if you rank at the bottom of the first page or on the second page, a stable position in SERP can still help.

Besides social media or before social media, the most popular brands on the internet did so by dominating their industry and ranking top in their industry-related search phrases.

even getting your site cited on AI overview does't mean they will still use your service for me i believe it can build trust and eventually lead to direct searches, visits, or conversions but its still under luck
 
Getting cited by AI is not the holy grail. They'll pull the plug whenever they like, just like OpenAI did with reddit recently.

yes i do believe that ranking is important, but in my opinion, it’s used as an awareness strategy. nd even when the person does not click the link it creattes an impression bcz of repetition in relation to the same subject matter. it will work in their favor at some point in time in one way or the other.

Indeed the visibility help a lot in that case, even if you do not have a click after all. they will most likely be aware of your brand by the time they bump into this topic.
 
The overview section is usually more relevant to informational queries. For e-commerce websites where the primary keywords are product names, ranking at the top of search results is still the most important factor.
 
for informational searches the overview section can useful.but with ecommerce sites where people are mainly searching for specific products i think getting the product pages high in the search results still matters most.

yess certainly, the visibility due to repetition will stay in the mind of the user, especially when the same brand keeps on repeating during searching for it.

yes but the SERP is about more than just reaching position number one anymore. when ur site pops up for multiple search terms on similar topics u are building up recognition. i would rather be consistent nd appear for various terms than randomlly achieve high rankings.
 
Not necessarily. Many keywords that don’t have AI-generated overviews in the search results can still generate a decent amount of organic traffic.

Great point! Ranking on the first page is important, but visibility and actual traffic matter even more.
 
I agree that ranking alone doesn’t guarantee traffic. Strong branding, search intent, compelling titles, and visibility across AI search can improve results.
