Mixing in Google Search Console data is clutch because that's your own backyard, not someone else's guesswork. I usually spot new content hooks by watching what random keywords start trickling in and then double-checking on Google Trends to see if it's just a blip or something picking up steam for real. Sometimes even low-volume stuff surprises you if the intent is right.

I think you're looking at it the right way. keyword volume is an estimate while Trends and Search Console can provide additional signals about direction and actual site visibility.
Yeah, that's pretty much how I'm looking at it. Volume is useful as a starting point, but it doesn't really tell you where the opportunity is heading or how your own site is actually performing. Trends gives some context on direction, while GSC gives you the reality of what's happening with your pages. Using the three together seems much more useful than relying on any single number.

I think you're looking at it the right way. Search volume is useful, but it doesn't show momentum or actual relevance to your site. I'd use Trends and GSC to spot opportunities, then use Ahrefs/Semrush to validate competition and backlinks. The combination is much more useful than relying on one metric.

Sure, keyword tools are still useful, but don’t rely only on search volume. Take a look at Google Trends, GSC, and the present Google results to get a feel for what people are really searching for, not just what a chart says. After that, use Ahrefs or Semrush to gauge the competition. Sometimes a low-volume keyword that is rising steadily can beat a high-volume keyword that is fading or going down.

I don’t think traditional keyword research is dead, but I wouldn’t rely on volume alone, Trends and GSC can reveal demand that tools miss, While Ahrefs/Semrush are still useful for checking competition and SERPs.

I think the traditional tools are still useful but they shouldn’t be the only signal combine Trends GSC live SERPs and Ahrefs/Semrush to judge demand intent competition and growth potential together.

Agreed, I don't see these going anywhere either. It's not about relying on one metric to be our litmus test on whether a topic is worth pursuing, but rather using each for what they were intended for. Volume tells us the foundation of a topic's potential, while Trends, GSC and the SERP provide the much needed nuance to the information we need in order to pursue it.
