I have a feature suggestion. When starting a new task and the output file has the same name as the one from the previous task there should be a popup asking if I want to replace the file. I just accidentally overwrote a list I scraped for two days, by starting a new task.
The CPU usage depends on the engines you post to. I use mainly contextual engines and my CPU usage is around 3-5%. The crappy engines like guestbooks, image comments, exploits, etc. are a real CPU hog. For me having a local machine is better because I feel I have more control over everything...
It could be you got deindexed and the message just hasn't appeared yet in your WMT account. Have you by chance forgotten to renew your domain name? Even if you did I doubt it would be deindexed so quickly.
The whole point of using Web 2.0 properties as Tier 1/buffers is that you're piggybacking on the domains' authority and it doesn't get penalized when you blast it with backlinks. To answer your question - yes it works. Does it work for every keyword/difficulty? No.
