Quick case study, Fred Recovery by removing keyword Alt Tags

As I already claimed several times, the Fred update is a general quality update targeted at overoptimized domains. One of the best working strategies seems to be, to reduce keyword density in general as well as keyword alt tags in special.

Hereby I want to reinforce this claim, by showing the results from removing keyword alt tags and their influence of rating.

This are 3 different pages on the same domain, targeting 3 different keywords. On 2 of them I removed the keyword alt tags and they got reindex within 2 days. While the third, without any changes stayed the same.

I had one site in particular that lost a lot of traffic and has started increasing again recently, regaining a lot of keywords a day.

Take a guess what I did to the site........Nothing.

Case study? Proof? There are so many moving parts here, you've isolated nothing. Could have been anything, one of thousands of reasons. Likely nothing you did at all.

If you really want to prove something, add the same alt tags back and document changes across all pages. Then remove again and document the same.

If you can show consistent ups and downs on multiple pages, (even better multiple domains), that coincide with exach crawl/cache dates that would go some way to proper verification.

What you've shown here is nothing remotely close to proof.

But anyway, please stop trying to prove me wrong. Any sane person can understand that huge updates like this that affect thousands of websites are unlikely to be related to something so trivial as alt tags.

If you had gone with keyword stuffing title tags or backlinks I'd be a bit kinder. But thinking some of the smartest minds on earth all sat in a room for months and came up with "Lets penalise all sites with spammy alt tags" means you are clearly not very bright.

It's a lot like saying Google went after every webmaster using meta keywords, they moved on from that a long time ago. These things don't help one bit, so they care little about anyone manipulating them. Good or bad, for the most part, they are just ignored.

dam. like 300x. fred was NOT about JUST density or on page. it was either off page or some combined shit...

reducing density and defucking your site is a 100% clear indictor that your off page anchors are fucked.

I could have given you a ton of exmaples on my pet projects. but I killed them a few weeks ago

Is it not true? Tags do increase kw density because the tags get placed in the page where you might not realize and you might end up over optimizing.

exactly! with kw tag my kw is 0.60% and without 0.55%. thats probably the case

I know myself, that my anchors are fucked up. Like 30% exact match on inner pages and branded on misc on Homepage. However, the exact anchor inner pages with exact didn't get hit this time around, just in February.

Lol...alt tags. I never used tags on my moneysites but 2 of 5 my sites fucked by fred. I changed KD, disawov bad links, added new articles and more words to old articles...nothing not changed!
