Expired Domains = Free Content!

So, most of us I'm assuming have bought expired domains at some point or another. Anyone who hasn't, check out these guides here:

Now, what most of you don't realise, is that you don't have to buy expired domains to make the best use of them!

A far more insidious, and in my opinion useful, method of extracting value from expired domains is finding content.

Yes. That's right. Content.

This website is how: The Internet Archive Wayback Machine

Lemme give you a quick run-down of this beauty. The Wayback Machine, is, according to the website themselves, a:

service that allows people to visit archived versions of Web sites. Visitors to the Wayback Machine can type in a URL, select a date range, and then begin surfing on an archived version of the Web. Imagine surfing circa 1999 and looking at all the Y2K hype, or revisiting an older version of your favorite Web site. The Internet Archive Wayback Machine can make all of this possible.​

As such, we can use this little device to generate our content.
Here's how:

1. Find your expired domain, as per the guides above
2. Enter into the URL search bar "web.archive.org/*/(expireddomain.com)". If, for example, I was looking at the web archive of "blackhatworld.com", I would type in "web.archive.org/*/www.blackhatworld.com".
3. Voilà! You can now rip as much content as you desire!

Caveats​

There are some caveats to this, however:

• I would recommend spinning this content, and checking to see if it has been reproduced elsewhere on the net. Someone could have had the same idea as you!
• Not all sites will have content on them - according to the Wayback Machine, this may be because of:
  • Robots.txt -- A site’s robots.txt document may have prevented the crawling of a site.
  • Javascript -- Javascript elements are often hard to archive, but especially if they generate links without having the full name in the page. Plus, if javascript needs to contact the originating server in order to work, it will fail when archived.
  • Server side image maps -- Like any functionality on the web, if it needs to contact the originating server in order to work, it will fail when archived.
  • Orphan pages -- If there are no links to your pages, the robot won't find it (the robots don't enter queries in search boxes.)

Besides these, however, the expired domains of the world are truly your oyster!

Just a heads up on that...

Legally speaking... you may own the domain name however you do not own the content on that domain (* unless you purchased the domain and the content together). So even though these webpages may be expired, the owners of the content could still come along and have you take down the information.. Granted it may not happen because .. who knows.. But just keep in the back your mind that that could go down the future, likewise if you flip the domain and sell it with the content, (that's a very gray area.. Or black hat area).. As your selling someone else's content without their permission, and directly profiting off of it and that could be grounds for a lawsuit.

But this is black hat world and not white hat land... so have fun!

This will absolutely take you nowhere. It's hard to see expired domains with clean articles, which the owner has not reproduced anywhere.

This works like a charm, but I would rather use this articles on a churn & burn sites or use them for backlinks. But using them on a site am spending $$$ to build for long term purpose? No way.

Most contents on expired domains are not worth it, many of them are already repurposed by original owners

I think with AI nowadays you can easily generate fresh contents instead hunting for those expired domains.

I've seen some similar posts on other threads.
But can't see everything's gonna fine, but again the effort itself takes more time than creating original content nowadays.
